This is my first pregnancy and I currently work fulltime.

I am a RECEPTIONIST so I am really worried how I am going to hide my morning sickness when it shows up. Its already difficult to not go to the toilet all the time and make it obvious because I have to have someone covering me whenver I leave the *(@&#*$ desk.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else works and how you are coping with it? Or even when you are out in public and m/s strikes you? Do you always throw up or is it mainly nausea?

uh oh... looks like the emotional rollercoaster has started! very cranky atm.

Well I am so lucky because I work for my parents. It's the best cause if I'm sick they let me take it easy and stuff. We are also planning on having 2 months after the baby is born to get used to everything. Then when I go back to work I can actually take Peanut with me which is even better!!

They will be doting grandparents for sure!!

And I have to say the best bosses ever!! I am so lucky!

I'm a stay at home mum at the moment! Which is a full-time job within itself!

You could add all sorts of other titles to that like, dish washer, clothing washer, home care attendant - domestic cleaner, teacher, psychologist, financial adviser, childcare worker, grocery collector, chef, receptionist, sanitation aid, supervisor, dog walker, animal carer to 1 Boxer Dog, 1 Chocolate Point Burmese Cat and 1 Goldfish!, mystery shopper - which is what I also do for various companies!, driver, leisure activites co-ordinator, Stock buyer and seller on e-bay (love e-bay!), researcher & information collector & storer, Gardener, Accounts Payer, & various other duties that I can't think of off the top of my head!

Makes for a very tiring day and even more tiring week!

I work part time in the morning from 5am- 9am
bradley watches roxy and gives her breaky - he works - 3-12pm
so we get all day together as a family!
its pretty good!

I told my boss already about the pregnancy - cause of some lifting involved in my job + I was feeling very sick and I figured it was affecting my work a little -

I worked full time until I was 35 weeks. I told my boss as soon as I knew (about five/six weeks), and the rest of the office when I was 16 weeks and couldn't hide it anymore. Fortunately my morning sickness was quite mild, and I got away with drinking ginger tea and eating dry biscuits. Only one person suspected I was pg before I announced it. I found it harder to work in the later stages of pg rather than the early stages.

wow lucky to have such cool boss's :)

im a personal carer at a aged care hostel and im stuggling at the moment... we are on our feet all day and cleaning up all kinds of mess from all ends ( not nice when queezzy already and close to vomiting!)
But apart from that its not too bad and hopefully when the sickness feeling has gone itll b easier.
I Plan on working till its impossible to work any longer and will go back 1-2 days a week about 6-8weeks after bubs born.

I have just been nauseaus and have only been sick once.
And if i dont go to bed by 8.30-9pm im exhausted for the next 3 days.....
Very moody and irritable and teary
Had one la-la day dream moment and that made me have a small accident with another car, everyone was ok, just a nudge that frightened the heck outta me

I work part-time at Big W, In the layby department. I start at 8;30 and finish at 1:30, i have to be careful with my lifting but everyone helps which is really good. When morning sickness kicks in i find it hard to work with customers but have no choice, i still try hard to smile and be happy

yeah sorry, I wasn't saying you don't work. I was just referring to 'employed' work

I've never had a paying job, so I guess I've been a SAHM for 10.5yrs even though Jacob will only be 9 on Saturday. I don't plan on getting a job until my youngest is in high school (long story), but I will be 41 then so uummm.....yeah, might be hard.

I wish I got a day off though on days when my morning sickness is really bad, lol, Matthew doesn't allow that though.

I worked FT while PG with #1 and also now I am PG with #2. The only difference is that I had a 2 hour each way commute last time I was PG!

I was terrified I was going to get caught out with m/s on the train ride to work.

You might get lucky like me & not suffer from m/s at all!! Here's hoping!! :fingerscrossed:

I'm currently in between jobs at the moment after being fired by my last job for being pregnant. (Considering taking further action, dw.) I had an interview at a local Creche on monday though and I have another on Sunday and another on the 20th. Something will pop up, I'm sure. Just looking to work part-time.

Full time and can't wait to stop !

Leave home around 7.20am, at work by 8am, ½ hour lunch and leave around 6pm, home by 6.30-7pm... usually eating around 8pm. This is NOT a life ! My partner works longer hours, guess that's how it is when you choose a career - but forgo family life with kids... but all that's about to change !!:)

90% of my colleagues are married, middle aged, conservative men, they aren't intersted in getting to know you. None of them even know I have a partner let alone that we've been together for 6 years !!! Guess the preganacy announcement will be a HUGE surprise then !! :devil6:

All of you mums who work are so cool. I don't know how you find enough hours in a day.

I 'work' from home as a freelance graphic artist. I use the term work lightly too:p
My jobs are well spaced and I haven't realy been paid for my work yet.
So far I have receved:
a Cumquat tree
1 pair of earings
2 big bunches of flowers
$50
and plain old thankyou's:o

I don't know how you mums work FT. I am so tired that it's all I can do to keep the house tidy and cook dinner
but enough about me:ecomcity:

I am a SAHM and I have to say....while I dont get paid and it is a hectic and emotionally draining job....I LOVE IT!! It is so rewarding and hey...I am my own boss!

In the real world I work in admin and study at uni but I wont be doing that again until my children are at school.

I worked full-time for my 1st pregancy & couldn't hide the fact that i was preggas due to the :barf: . I was in an office full of men & they still figured it out, I ended up telling them after i nearly spilled one of the guys tea down the front of him as i ran past him to get to the ladies! I was:barf: up to 6 times a day for about 2-3months (it died down to 2 times a day by the 4th month! YAY!). And at least i was lucky that the ladies was just around the corner & I didn't have to get anyone to cover me when i went!
This time I am working part-time and am in a different office, much further from the loos - so not sure how i will handle it if the ms hits again. I used to keep a bucket in the car, and i know a friend keeps a few strategically placed around the house & has mastered the skill of the silent spew! Even if you don't want to tell work just yet - if you can trust 1 person who can cover you all the time - it might be worth it so you don't have to worry.

up until this week i was working full time, but i just couldnt cope anymore, i am throwing up all day and when im not i feel like i am going to. I am so tried that once i get home all i do is sleep and i just had enough, so i told my boss that i wanted to part time (i told him that if there wasnt the option for me to go part time then i was going to have to quit).
so from now on i work from about 1/1:30 - 5:30pm so it gives me the morning off when i am the sickest, and then work in the arvo. i only plan on working up until about christmas time anyway so i then i can have the last trimester off to do the nursery and everything associated with making the house ready for the jellybean.

Hi all. I currently am working 3 days and around 25 hours. I work in Community education running 2 groups for 15 - 18 year old early school leavers who want to get a equivalent year 10 pass. it's okay and when it comes to it I will reduce my hours gradually until the last few weeks. Hopefully I'll be still well enough and not feeling too awkward to work up to the last 4 weeks. after that I think I won't be able to fit behind the steering wheel to drive there... like last time. Last time I finished up at 6 months because I was unwell. Hopefully that doesn't happen this time. I've worked out a plan a, plan b and plan c with my manager so we'll see. I plan to go back on a casual basis maybe 10 hours in the start of term 3, but will just do the youth work component not the teaching.

catch you
