I was just wondering what size bottle teats and number of holes everyone's bubs drink out of.
My DD is 4.5 months and is still on number one teats (newborn - one hole). I have recently switched to two holes, but she has been more grizzly and screaming on bottle and I thought maybe the flow is too fast for her..

Hi there! Love your DD's name! ;) It does sound a bit like the teat is too fast for her, and maybe giving her a tumnmy ache.....
I have always used the cross cut teats, even when Charlee was a newborn (with DD1 i experimented with different ones for a while). They allow the baby to suck as much/little as they want out, instead of a steady flow, so when they stop sucking, the milk stops flowing into their mouth (they're also a bonus as you don't have to buy different teats every couple of months!). Maybe you could give them a try, if not, i'd say maybe stick to the single holed teat for a while longer? Good Luck!

Hi,
We use the NUK teats and I think we need to change to a different flow when DD reaches 6 months of age.

Shazbutt - who makes the cross cut teats?
Ps. Have you ever had some weird looks when you introduce your daugher as Charlee?? We had a few at the hospital by the older midwives!

I think Happy Baby and also Bebelle (?) make them. There are a few others too i think, but i can't remember names sorry.....Good thing about Happy Baby and Bebelle, is that they're cheap but good! There are brands that do make them in wide neck teats too, if you need them instead of standard?
Yeah, i get looks from older people mainly about DDs name. They always ask if its short for Charlotte or something, or they pronounce it as Sharlee instead, i have to correct them.....When she was really little and in neutral clothes, i'd say her name, and they'd think she was a boy (come to think of it, there were a few that thought she was a boy even in pink clothes)! LOL

Perhaps try switching back to the old teats and see if her screaming on the bottle stops...
I use the pigeon teats and bottles - they are fantastic. There is a specific bottle that comes with a little regulator that you plug into the bottom of the teat so that it only lets milk through when bub sucks and slows the flow down. My DD is 11 weeks and is on newborn teats with the regulator. I won't be switching her over to a 3-6 month teat yet - not until it looks like she is no longer enjoying the flow. Pigeon also make the y-cut teats and are meant for 3-month+ bubs.
When my DD was a few weeks old and we discovered these bottles we didn't realise that they came with medium teats (you have to buy the small teats separately) and she was getting really angry on the bottle. The flow was obviously too fast for her but we didn't realise. When we discovered our error and started using the small teats she stopped getting angry. Poor darling. Wish we had realised sooner.

I use the avent ones and I find DD hasn't found any problems with them

I use the nuk cross cut teats - fantastic for the above reason. You can only get them (nuk) in latex though, some babies hate the latex. We have to because I use thickened formula with the consistancy of clag glue!
