DD has just been switch to advance (hasn't had her first bottle yet) because she is only getting 30% of her daily recommended calcium and the docs are very worried
so my question is has anyones bubs gone from LCP to advance? where there any problems?
I'm really freaking out!! I know advance has so many more calories too but no one is worried about that everyone keeps saying her calcium intake is much more important and because she rarely eats it will help her anyway.
I have spoken to her pead, GP, Dietitian and Pharmacist they all think this is the right move but was wanting some opinions from Mums ;)

I'd def go up to the advanced - both my kids did.
What actually is your concearn? the extra calories?
ETA - Oh I know see she is 16months - I'd switch if that is the advice
Good Luck

Thanks WCM the calories are a concern yes but I was mostly worried is it will have an a bad effect on her gut or bowls or if she will have a reaction or something as the Advance has alot more "ingredients"
I know I am being a total worry wart but we have had SO many problems and come so far with her I don't want to jump back 2 steps.
I am starting her toady but didn't know wether to expect any change IYKWIM?

Give her maybe 1/4 of a bottle and see how she copes?
Easing it in over a few days won't matter too much as she's been on the LCP for quite awhile now?

Thanks WCM she has been on the LCP since 6 weeks old.
I just tried her on the Advance, she took one mouthful and went hysterical!!!
I had to Rock her to sleep screaming :(
Now everytime come near her with a bottle she screams!!!!!
It took us months to get her to take her formula now I've stuffed it all!!!!
Her paed and dietitian want her on atleast 600mls a day now she is refusing to drink anything.
I feel like such a bad Mother my instincts were telling me not to change her and I did anyway.
Formula was her lifeline as she is not eating properly. She will only eat potato and bread and getting her to eat that is blooming hard enough.
I don't know what to do :(

Why isn't she eating? Is he having solids?
DD was put on advance at 6 months her paed is a dumb a5s!!!!
She was on it for a month! It's horrible, she didn't drink for almost a day but next day se was starving so she drank it but it was disgusting!!! She only had 120ml each feed then bedtime I was able to get 180ml into her.
It's meant to be for over 12 months. The tin says best served chilled so I guess it's like their "cows milk"
I almost puked everytime I had to wash her bottles.
Advance caused major constipation problems with DD... We almost had to go to hospital :(
DD is 10 months now and on the newborn neocate and LOVES it! (anything is better than advance!)
Just try give lots of fibre to avoid constipation on advance.

Of course she is on solids she is 16 months old lol. But she refuses to eat most of the time (she has alot of allergies so her food source is limited)
I actually think the LCP smells and tastes worse :p There are 2 flavours though so your Bub may have been on the other one.
Thats terrible about your bub, 6 months on Advance what a TOOL!!! I actually think I relpied to your post about it.
I wont be giving her advance again anyway, as she is refusing it along with her LCP now:crying:

Hi there,
My DS2 recently went onto the neocate advance about 6 weeks ago. I thought about doing it gradually like 1/4 advance,3/4 LCP. But decided to change totally over straight away. He was fine apart from a reflux flare for a few days. He has always loved his neocate, and was on the LCP from 4 weeks. Perhaps doing a slow transition may help your DD.

I don't think the advance is even an option anymore. I've asked my pharmacist to sort out a calcium sup for her instead. It took us months to get her to take her formula I don't want to risk her refusing her bottle all together which is what I'm SURE will end up happening if I push the advance.
Thanks for your reply :)
