The last 2 days I have had excruciating pain in my left shoulder blade. I have had several broken arms and ankles and the pain is more intense then that. If I try and lift anything, roll over or move i pretty much want to cry :( I have done nothing that could have caused this I have no idea what it's from. The only thing I could think of was that I had an epidural 6 months ago and I know back pain was a possible after effect, could I be getting shoulder pain instead? It's like a burning/joint pain...so painful :(

Could your back or ribs be out? I had very similar symptoms, alot of pain, hard to move, even breathing hurt. My ob sent nme to an osteopath and I walked out like a new woman. I'd recommend seeing one.

I got back pain after my epidural, but it started within 24 hours or so of it being administered and was concentrated around the site. I don't think that they can radiate to shoulder pain especially so long after. I would go and see a chiropractor.

I think it's highly unlikely that your pain is associated with an epidural you had 6 months ago. Possible I guess! But I wouldn't think so.

The pain you describe sounds similar to the pain I had in my back when I slipped a disk. I couldn't move, it was excruciating and I passed out from the pain twice. Went to the doctor, but nothing they could do other than send me for an xray to rule out any serious damage, prescribe drugs (very strong pain killers and anti-inflammitories) and tell me to rest. I couldn't move at all for 2 days, then eventually the pain slowly went away.

But being in your shoulder, well it can't be a slipped disk, so I dunno. I would suggest going to doc and getting an xray

Oh dear. Just after posting that I had a thought.

I also had an epidural when I gave birth to my son in December 2009. I slipped the disk in my back 4 months after that. I wonder if the epidural weakened my back???

I never even thought of that until just now..
