Im not sure if this is the right place or not to put this, but i'm wondering if anyone has experianced or know of someone that was preg and their waters broke at 18/19wks and had a positive outcome, when I say waters breaking I mean that there is no fluid around baby, this happened to me on sat, i've got a scan this friday to see if there is a increase of fluid around bubs, if there is its promicing, if no then, its not good news, i'm wanting to hear of any stories of babies surviving and at what gestation they were born and if there was any complications with bubs and with the pregnancy after the waters breaking,

I read a story of a woman whose waters broke at 19 weeks. She stayed away from hospitals as much as possible, ate all the right foods to keep away infection and was very careful. The doctors said that there wasn't much reaccumulation of amniotic fluid. The womans pregnancy continued until 32 weeks and she ended up giving birth to a little boy who is in fantastic health considering his prematurity. This was a year or so ago. She insisted on steroid injections from 28 week. I'll try and dig up the info. Good luck with you scan.:hugs:

good luck with your scan, i know you know we are all thinking of you and wishing you the best. with jake i lost all my waters but it was no where near as early as that. i had a horrible labour (dont know if that was due to being dry or not???) and ended up having emergency c/section. when bubs are in a dry environment they get stuck in a positon easier so jakes neck was real stiff and he would only sleep on one side. a few weeks of physio and making him sleep on the other side and he was fine
:fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: for friday.

Hey there,

My brother's girlfriend had this happen before the half way mark and now I'm a very proud Aunty to a little boy.:smiliedance: :yelclap: She had to be really careful that she didn't get an infection but she ended up going to term.

I have my fingers crossed that you have the same outcome.

Please let us know how you go.

Lots of :hugs: & coming your way.

Thanks everyone for your replies, and thoughts, I know there isn't much on the net about it, thats why i'm asking on here if anyone knows of anyone that has had this happen to them and had a good outcome, i'm still hoping that the fluid levels build up again and I can at least carry to 24wks, fingers crossed :fingerscrossed: that it works out that way and I don't loose this one

This happened to my twice so the out come was different both times and I have heard of women going to 36 weeks.
First pregnancy I sneezed and my water gushed at 17 weeks. I was hospitalised my cervix had closed but within 24hrs I delievered
Second Pregnacy I was on the loo and same thing happened at 19 weeks, I had a us and no pockets of water were left they hospitalised me and pumped me full of IV saline to promote re generating amnio fluid. Scans later showed not much improvement. I was kept in hospital with my head to the ground and IV continuing. Sadly I lost that pregnancy 1 week later BUT
I was told amazing stories about women progressing well into 30 weeks, there is a program ran at Womens Hospital in Melbourne for such cases.
The problem with no waters is lung development and ceased joint funtion as the limbs arnt floating in such a way they normally develop. Also beware of infection
If you search Incompetant Cervix this is the out come in many of there pregnancys.
Have they given any reason for this to happen?
Bec
Stay positiveas I said alot of women go on and have 30 + pregnancys

Hi there my SIL had this happen and had a very positive outcome. Her waters broke at around 18weeks and she was kept in hospital on full bed rest for several weeks. In her case she was able to replace most of the lost fluid and she delivered a healthy baby boy at 38weeks.

:fingerscrossed: that all goes well for you too

~beckkles~ thanks for your story, I lost my first son at 19wks with having no fluid around him, i'm scared that this pregnancy is going to end the same way, I havn't been put on bed rest or anything yet, but have been resting lots, :fingerscrossed: the ltrs of water i've been drinking and the rest helps, anymore positive stories is much appreciated

Honey,
My obst after speaking to the womens told me to drink as much as I could tolerate as if your kidneys are working so are the babies and that replenishes the waters. Please PM me if I can do anything else. Its a good sign nothing has happened so far I remember reading that if the baby is in distress the first 24hrs are the tell tale.

A woman I know quite well had this happen to her at 19 weeks. She was admitted to hospital and kept on IV antibiotics. She also had steroid injections...she delivered a little boy at 32 weeks and he is a healthy, beautiful nearly one year old.

I really hope everything works out for you:hugs:

I worked with a girl whose waters broke around 18-19 weeks. She was hospitalised and they managed to prolong her going into labour for weeks and weeks. The baby was still born pretty early and sadly didn't make it BUT BUT BUT not because of she was born early, she had a lot of genetic birth defects which meant she couldn't survive even if she went full term. So there is plenty of hope, I am sure if the baby is healthy and doesn't have any "other" problems it has a good chance. Good luck, let us know how you go, I will be thinking and praying for you.
