My DD is 2 weeks tomorrow and I haven't really left the house. I've got a couple of maternity/bf tops but I look enormous in them now as my tummy shrinking is going quite well. I would like to know the secrets of clothing combinations so you don't have to whip out an entire boob and expose all of my flabby tummy every time I feed (which is a lot!). I have a few bf singlets but I have flabby arms so I don't like my upper arms to be sleeveless.

At the moment I'm spending all my time just in nursing night bras and comfy shorts but it's not really appropriate for out of the house.

TIA

I never got the hang of it. I wore cardigans alot. They can be draped a bit to cover u up.

I loved the bonds bumps singlets with a shirt upbuttoned over the top, worked well

A firm fitting singlet you can pull under a boob, and a lighter top you can lift up.

I agree with Izy, wear a tight fitting tank top underneath a looser tshirt or something else that will cover up your arms. Then all you have to do is reach up under your tshirt, pull your tank top down so your boob is out, bring bubs to you and lift up your tshirt til bubs attaches then you can use the tshirt to cover up whatever part of your boob is showing. Works really well.

Also carrying a scarf/shawl in your nappy bag is handy, you can just drape it across you while you feed.

i just bought a breastfeeding singlet from Kmart and i am going to go back and get more! There is a slit at the boobs so you can just lift the top part up and feed. It means my stomach is covered.

I wore this under a shirt today and just lifted my shirt up, put dd on and put a blanket over my shoulder. You couldn't see anything and my stomach remained covered!

Got some dirty looks from an old woman but stiff - my baby was hungry. It was my first out in the open feed (normally hide in the parents rooms!) and i was so proud of myself!!

a bonds maternity singlet (i live in them all the time) and when i go out i usually put a tshirt over the top. i found that the bub2bub singlets from target didn't give me enough support as i am about a dd (slightly bigger when breastfeeding) but they are great for night-times.

my absolute favourite is my freshmums breastfeeding tops. the open from under the bust and you don't need to wear a bra. and you can get them with sleeves.

I just wear normal clothes (tshirt). Apparently I am exposing my flabby tummy but I live by the philosophy that if I can't see it, then I can pretend it's not happening.

I just wear normal clothes, so long as they can be pulled down. I pull my breast out over the top of my clothes rather than under so my belly is covered and you only see the top of my breast like you would if I wore a low cut top.
I do use a ring sling so shes usually in that when we are out, but honestly, my baby just gets fed no matter what Im in and where i am. Never had a compaint and wouldnt care if I did.

Love Love LOVE the bonds belly bands.... you can buy a 2 pack (black and white so you can colour co-ordinate your entire wardrobe :D ) from big W or similar for about $20...

I would wear them EVERY.SINGLE.DAY right up till I stop day feeding. That with a bra, and whatever on top, keeps your tummy covered when you pull up your top for feeding... so great, and not so cumbersome as a singlet (specially in hot weather).

Same.... Supre cheapy singlets or boob tubes to wear under other shirts were my best friends.... after everything settled in I very rarely wore a bra actually....

Top shirt up just above the boob, singlet pulled down just below boob.... DD latched on and you could barely see a thing!

Thee - Good on you for your out-and-proud feed. Ignore those dirty-looking- ladies. I'm proud of you too! :)

Bub2B singlets and a t-shirt over the top is my formula for minimal exposure. A really light shirt in summer but can be a sweater or long sleeve shirt in winter. And it can also cover clevage if you don't want to show that either (I never had any with my tiny bbs but if I did I'd probably cover it bwahaha)

I just wore normal clothes.
I have always pulled my whole boob out from my top,is easier that way!
I just carried around a muslin cloth, just to cover any excess boob:BFing: <---- coz thats what my babys do! haha

with DD1 I just lifted the shirt (young and elastic so no issues).

with the other two I had BF singlets with a shirt over the top. the shirt went up, the cup went down, the singlet still covered the tummy (thank GOD)

Its way to hot where we live to layer, so I just wear normal clothes. I tend to buy things that have gathered necklines, pull down easily or button up. Or bonds bf singles, with a sheer loose fitting tops over the top. When they were younger I used a muslin wrap, but older they pull it off so I got a proper bf cover, which I worked out can't use in summer cause it gets to hot and sweaty, so I gave up and just used nothing.

Good on ya for going public  We can't anymore, feeds take 20+ minutes due to the playing around, which leaves 100% boob exposure for extended periods  I'm comfortable feeding in public, not comfortable giving everyone a full view with DD2 trying to remove my moles or playing 'this one', 'that one' :D

I wear strapless dresses (mostly with shirred bodices, they were a pregnancy staple) with a "bolero" or one of those little crocheted cardigan things, as I also hate my upper arms. It's great! Easy access, max modesty! You can 'free the boob' from the maternity bra and leave the dress up until the last second, minimum air time for boob! :D
My fav cardigan thing has one button and buttons just above the boobs, so I leave I done up and it covers the boob but not bubs face.

Also, the singlet with a loose fitting top is awesome, singlet goes down, top comes up!
When I buy something new, it always gets the 'can I get my boob out the top' test.

That little emoticon thingy is way cute!!! :) I'm still new, where do I learn the coding for these things? Thank god I found the abbreviations sticky, I thought you were all crazy with you dp's this and your bfp's that :)
Sorry to thread crash OP :)

hey

i too am a fan of "the singlet under the shirt" but have lately been really wanting to wear dresses. so I do the dress with a little bolero/cardi as another person mentioned earlier with just pulling the dress down or unbuttoning it and its easy to feed that way. I also if necessary will tie a large muslin around my neck like a bib and let it float over me... but this is only if I'm in public transport or somewhere I cant sit with my back to the crowd. This is a new occurrence as my child has discovered its more fun to play when feeding!!!
