I've started packing my hospital bags - currently 33 weeks!:yelclap:
And decided while I'm packing I might as well get a nappy bag organised too.
So what do I need, for a breastfed newborn?
I'm hoping to use MCN's but let me know what's in your bag anyway (cloth and sposie users). So far I have:
- Change Mat/Towel
- Wipes
- Spew rag
- Change clothes
- 2 nappies (depending on how long I'm out for may be more)
- Wetbag
- Drink bottle & snack for me
- Spare Wrap/blanket
- Small toy
I'm sure there'll be more things...
Feel free to add things for bottle fed or older babies as well. It might be helpful to others..

sunscrean, hat and sunnies for bub, book (i always read to even my 2 as newborns when we were waiting in a long line, waiting for bus ect), i always had 2 changes of clothes. I knew if ds or dd vomited once they would always do it again half an hour later. I also had a bottle of boiled water (i was bottle feeding but lots of women i know had this for bf babies too). And a small spritzer container of water for really hot days a nice spray is nice for bubs and your self.

Hmmm not sure if ur asking about ur hospital bag or nappy bag??!! I'll blame my baby brain!!!
Always take multiple changes of clothes in ur nappy bag. If ur out all day I'd take 3.
As for hospital bags. I had a separate one for me to bubs. Glad I did.
I would pack light in Ur bags but get df/dp/dh to keep extras in the car. And plastic bags. That way you can get rid of dirty washing and have clean stuff ready. And u don't have to worry about ur other half remembering to bring more stuff!!!

Face washers!!! U can never have too many. They are good for little messes and take up less room than I big cloth.

Nappy sacks. I note you say "wet bags". Not sure if thats the same thing? You'll need bags to put the dirty wipes and nappies and clothes in. If you're using cloth nappies it's easier to have seperate bags so you can tie up the bag with the wipes and dispose of them. If they're in with the nappy you have to handle them a second time and they're pretty yucky.
Also some nappy cream. You'll get lots of mini samples if you get those new mum "showbags". They are tiny so handy for the nappy bag and you can try a few different ones to see what suits you and bub.
I've got a tiny first aid kit but I've got a toddler who often needs a plaster. Probably not neccessary for a newborn.

For a small baby I use to have a change of clothes, sunscreen, 2 nappies, a wrap, and a cardigan.
For my toddler she has a pack pack with a nappy, a drink bottle, a snack and a change of pants in case she has a big wet.

Damn I wrote a bunch of other stuff but my phone is reposting the earlier stuff rather than the new stuff grrrrrrrr
I wouldn't worry about a toy for a newborn. They won't be interested in toys until about 12 weeks.

:iagree: I don't even pack a toy for my 17 month old unless I know we're going to be out for a long time.
