Hi all,

I am currently happily breastfeeding my 13 week old baby...my goal was to get to 12 months...

HOWEVER...i am experiencing so much hand and feet pain i don't know what to do.

I saw my osteo today and she has said i have a plantar fascia in my right foot (which is causing shooting pains whenever i walk) and i have quite severe fluid retention which she thinks is responsible for the constant ache in my ankles and wrists (so bad i can barely walk sometimes and it hurt to pick up my DD). She has suggested tablets for fluid retention...but I am worried about what that will do to my milk supply.

She wants me to see my GP, but i can not see her to next year and i am not sure how long i can deal with the pain.

There is nothing but exercise/massage/painkillers for the plantar fascia so i have stretches to do and some exercises and i am booked into see my osteo as soon as i get back from holidays.

What can i do for the fluid retention?? PLease tell me there is an answer cause i don't knwo if i can keep going!

A chemist should be able to tell you whether it is safe to take while breastfeeding. I've never heard of breastfeeding being the cause of fluid retention though. My feet still occasionally swell when I have been sitting for too long, but my gp told me its due to my ongoing pelvis problems.

My father suffered from fluid retention for years, he was on medication but also saw a dietitian who helped him change his diet, many foods are thought to increase the problem.
