As Sunny Coasters im sure we all feel close to Steve and his family, or well I do anyway.
Such a awful loss of a man who was so passionate about wildlife and his family.:gloomy:
I went to Oz Zoo this morning and found it very sad and moving. You just think of Steve as one of these invincible men that will be here for ever. The Sunny Coast has lost a great member of the community. A sad day for the Sunshine Coast :crying:

RIP Steve Irwin A true hero!

I feel the same way Cherie.

A great loss to the Sunshine Coast, Australia & the world.

I haven't been able to make it out to Australia Zoo yet, although I plan to. I was also thinking that there is bound to be a commemorative service around somewhere, or perhaps something when his funeral is held.

If anyone does hear about anything that is planned, please let me know!

:crying: RIP Mate!:crying:

I think everyone can't believe it. I feel for Terri, Bindi and Bob. I met Terri and Bindi a few times when I was working at a Radio Station and they are lovely people.

Very sad and tragic and a great loss to all.:crying:

I can hear them on the TV now, it seems as big as Princess Diana's death in the way it effects the world.

Terrible thing to happen to someone, am still in shock. After all the things he has done and the dangerous animals he come so close to! Great man! I havent been to his zoo yet but i want to get up there soon! R.I.P. Steve! My heartaches for his family! such young children too!
Oh and those losers that have nothing else to do than start jokes up about his death really need to get a life!!

its funny how a guy that we never knew has affected us in such a great way. I was just thinking yesterday when we went to Oz Zoo last year my 11 year old left saying that he wanted to work at a zoo when he grew up. The zoo left such an impression on him. I have heard that he is not having a state funeral which is probably better that his family moarns in peace, but I hope they have some memorial service here. Caloundra Council have a condolance book which im going to go sign:crying:

It is very sad, such a tragic loss. I went to the Zoo on Tuesday and it was very sad. I hope that they hav some sort of public service for him. He was such a remarkable guy.

Anyone going to suncorp stadium next tues or wed when the memorial is held?
I wouldnt mind going, you can get trains there, but not sure how easy it will be with a pram!

Cherie, I used to get the train to Bris every day & I have to say it would be tricky with a pram. A stroller would probably be easier, but my guess is that the trains heading down there from the Coast would be packed.

I'd love to go, but I won't be able to get the time off work.

I know Steve Irwin is loved by all, and that Suncorp Stadium probably has the best capacity to deal with the huge crowds that will no doubt turn up, but I would still like to see a local memorial service of some kind for him.

Nothing's been confirmed (as of last night's news). It was just said that it is expected to be at Suncorp Stadium on either Tues or Wed next week.

Memorial is going to be held at the crocasium next wed. Only 5000 can fit in there though. Tickets are free and being given out at 9am through Oz Zoo, Ticketek online and at the plaza. I would love to go but the chances of getting a ticket are slim :(
I think they are doing big screen tvs on the coast as well. I will have to stock up on my tissues:crying:

Have u guys seen ebay and how people are profiting from Steves Death? I think its awful that people can only think of money! Fair enough if they are going to donate 100% of the money to wild life warriors, but I bet they dont!
MAKES ME MAD!!!

Is the crocasium at Aust Zoo?

I would love to go, I think it would be very touching, but like you I don't like my chances of getting a ticket.

There was a thread on here recently - someone had found a listing on eBay stating that it was Peter Brock memorobilia - starting bid $5. Then when you viewed it, the guy said he was selling a punch in the head to all the people trying to make a profit off the death of a legend and (among other things that I couldn't post here!) that those people are a disgrace & should be ashamed of themselves!

I'm originally from England living in the U.S. I was shocked to hear of Steve Irwin's sudden and tragic passing. I will miss his "crikey"'s and his bravery. He was so much more than what is seen on TV. I know that his legacy will live on through his wife and children.

my crazy mum spent from 4:30pm at australia zoo yesterday - she was among the few who sat in the rain the whole night (most people slept in their cars but my dad had dropped mum out there) she was on the today show just after the 8am news this morning! so we are lucky enough to be going to steves memorial service

Take me Mel!!
Got a spare ticket???
Your lucky, I guess I will just have to watch it on tele like the rest of the world. I wonder if they will do anything special outside OZ Zoo?

justtwogirls22

they arent going to have anything outside the zoo cause the carparks will be full - they open at 6am & the zoo opens at 7:30am so will have a wander around beforehand only cause i dont want to park miles away! just heard russell crowe is reading a poem there

my friend lined up for 10 hours to get her family tickets.

I don't understand why  you would take a 2 year old and 5 year old to a memorial service. I remember when I was 11 and had to attend a funeral it wasn't a pleasant experience, one of great grief.

Ok he was/is famous, I think Steve has touched many, and I will probably watch it on TV out of interest but I do feel sorry for Terri and Bindi having to be subjected to so much publicity and media frenzy over the death of their father and husband. Must be overwhelming.

I am just confused about it all.
