Ds just pee.d on the new couch... It has some kind of stain treatment on it, i took the cover off- the instructions say to just blot liquid spills- but what about smell? If i put it in the wash will the treatment be gone too?

From the spotless book by Shannon Lush...

You can neutralise the smell with lemon juice or vinegar applied sparingly with a damp cloth.

Good luck.

Im not sure about the treatment going if you wash it, but if you blot the spill (pee)... get some frebreeze! This has happened to us before and I wasnt sure what I could do without wreaking our couch so I blotted with disinfectant and sprayed with frebreeze!! :)

Of course we don't have any lemon juice or vinegar- or frebreeze.!

What about the neighbour? Other than that I'd go for the vinegar (cheapest) - and you'll have some left over (its also a great fabric softener - sorry I'm a Shannon Lush fan!!), febreeze is great but about $5 + for a can.

Ive heard bi-carb soda takes smells out of things? Would it damage your couch if you put that on it? I wouldnt have a clue... but it does take smells out, ive used it on carpet... sprinkle, leave for a little bit then vac?

I just put the cover in the machine on a gentle rinse cycle... Ds is driving me nuts! While i was trying to fix it he smeared eczema cream all over himself and his bedroom window! Argh! And to think i kept him home from daycare today to hang out with him!

I second glen 20. It worked on my couch smell.

My couch copped so much wee when we were TTing.
And now we're starting again... scrubbed poo off a fold-out sofa yesterday. Oh the joys...

I pour Salt all over it to draw out the moisture, then vacuum it up, then i would stick the cushions (if i could out in the hot sun) to naturally sanitise it, then i would pour Bicarb soda all over it, leave it overnight then vacuum it up.

what about when the pee goes through to the cushion underneath the cover? DD peed all over the kitchen chair which is a foam cushion with a cover (dont' think the cover comes off actually). They're not fancy chairs but don't like the thought of it sitting there in wee forever.

Haha, omg, what a day! he was refusing to wear a nappy, so i thought we'll see where this goes. Within 5 mins he had pee'd and pooped on his bedroom floor... 'oh no! Yuck! Yuck!' then i thought at least he's empty, and he did a giant pee on the couch 'uh oh, wee! Wee! Towel!' so i scooted him outside where he pooped all over the yard then walked through it! Argh! So i clean him up and dress him, and whilst cleaning up after this fiasco he rubs eczema ointment on everything! This was all within about an hour and a half! If i wasn't pregnant i'd be having a big drink tonight!
