Hi,
Im a newbie to mcns & have just recieved my first lot. This might seem like a silly question.. But do you need to use washing detergent? & do you need to wash them 6 times?? Im so excited and cant wait to use one for the first time :)

TIA!!

I washed the outer shells just once (solid coloured red/black ones need to be washed separately I was told), and washed all of the inners 5 times. I also just use half a scoop of detergent :)

hi there,
im a newbie to mcn's too, and have whole heap here i need to wash ready for bubs, but i dont want to just yet lol
i think for washing the nappies before using them you use halk of your normal detergant than what you would normally use, and NO fabric softners or anything else like that

ok you need to wash them at least once, they can be worn after just one wash, they just wont be as absorbent so change more frequently....
yes all the instructions say half your normal washing detergent, but what they forget to inform you is its only provided your washing detergent dosnt contain any fabric softener, or a few other things... in other words most detergents on the market.
i wash in rockin green, some wash in soap nuts, and some wash in nothing but water and sunlight (i have done this works very well surprisingly) you also want to try and get as much water through your MCN wash as possible, i have a front loader so i do a prewash and an extra rinse, if you have a top loader it will use more water so you should be able to get away with just an extra rinse cycle.... there is so much info in the cloth nappy discussion area of bub hub please have a look to check out the best way to look after your MCN's and keep them as absorbent as possible! AND LASTLY WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF FLUFF!!! :D:D:D it is a very happy place indeed :D
