For those of you who get these..how often do they happen in a day?
I've been getting them more than usual today than any other day
I've been getting about 10 every 30 minutes:confused:

I only ever feel them if i have been walking around the shops or something, other than that ~ never!
That sounds a little too oten to be getting them though?

I'd say it's quite normal ;)
Sometimes the uterus goes to town and I get heaps and other days just a few. Though I am now getting a lot more now as I'm due this week :D
I started getting them fairly early too - at about 16 weeks.
Ok, stupid question from a first timer here .... but what do they even feel like? Could I have had them already? I'm 31 weeks today.

I have them all the time too. Apparently I have an irritable uterus which makes them more frequent and more intense. My ob says they arent anything to worry about.
But if you're unsure, go and see your doctor.
If your BH are worrying you, it could be a sign you are a bit dehydrated.....I always found that upping my water intake always settled them down......
It's not the real thing till your contractions start to 'knock you for 6', you have to sit down, concentrate, you cant talk thru them and they start to take your breath away.....

Mine are like that now! I hate to think what my 'real' ones are going to be like!

sounds like pre-labour has started....though you can pre-labour up to a month before your baby comes
twice now I have pre-laboured like that for 4 weeks before DS3 and 2 weeks before DS4.......
Even after 4 kids, I still had the 'what if this is really it' feeling night after night of having these types of contractions.....
My policy this time, however, was to not start getting excited about any of my contractions till I felt like I was being all consumed by them. I started labour at 2.30am, and still told myself to not take it seriously till they took me deeper. I phoned my midwife at 6.30 am, as I could no longer get comfortable, I had to start being 'active' (ie, move into different labouring positions, needed, as opposed to wanted, to get into the spa bath!)
The more intense they get, the more introverted you get, and you dont leave that 'zone' till your baby is born. It is very difficult to try and communicate even between contractions, as you want to psych yourself up for the next one.......
If you are able to get up and do little bits of housework etc in between them, you are still quite early on......if you are planning on a hospy birth, plan to go in when contractions start taking your full attention, and you find yourself concentrating inbetween them on what you want to do during the next one.....! If you are wondering still if this is 'it' in between them....it's probably not yet.....;)

not always though, with dd 1 my contractions never reached over mild pain:smiliedance: the midwives were shocked to see i was 10cm dilated:D

If you're worried you should talk to your midwive or doctor about it. It does sound normal though towards the end of pg. Its just your body getting ready for the big day. My midwive said to me when i was pg with my DD that every BH you have is one less contraction you'll have in labour! When she told me that i was like bring it on BH's!!
