View Full Version : Black Out / Fainting
Has anyone experienced a near or actual fainting / black out ?? I was wondering if it was a common thing in early pregnancy ?
I almost passed out in the shower this morning, I had to get out and sit down fast.... after dripping water across carpet and not having finished washing the shampoo out of my hair !

Yep I got this alot during the early stages of my pregnancy. The worst time was on the train, it was peak hour & i just sat on the floor because i thought i was going to faint.
Yikes ! I feel for you, its such a horrible out of control feeling.
Were you able to do anything to relieve it at all ??
With my first pregnancy I fainted once on an overcrowded overheated peak hour bus. Lucky there was someone I knew on the bus to help me. And on another occassion I nearly fainted one morning and so I just sat down on the floor. I was only 7 and 9 weeks pregnant at the time. I believe it was from overheating so maybe your shower is too hot? Also make sure you are really well hydrated as well.
Goodluck and hope you feel better.

Yep, its totally normal. With my 2nd pg i actually fainted in my bathroom and i was 12 wks from memory. We had a friend over for dinner and had a glass of wine i felt faint so i went inside. I needed to go to the bathroom and when i got up i felt really faint so i tried to get to my room as quickly as possible. Anyway i didnt make and woke up on our bathroom floor. Man it hurt i had the worst headache as you can imagine. I end up in hospital for 2 days cause i had a mild concussion!! They also kept me in cause my blood pressure was really low. They reckon it was the wine that made me faint, cause i was pg. They also say that having a really hot shower or bath can also do the same thing.

That happened a lot in my first pregnancy.
One night I went into the servo to get a hot dog for DP. As I walked out, I felt dizzy and everything went black. I ended up passing out and tripping over the garbage bin. Luckily, DP caught me, but he wasn't too happy about his hot dog splattered all over the ground!

Yup, I agree. It's totally normal. I had to catch myself a few times before I fainted. A good thing to do is pump your legs if you're unable to sit or if you feel like you're going to go.. Lay down and put your feet and legs in the air (this helps get the blood back to your brain.. which is the reason why you faint).

I fainted about 2 weeks ago and df completely freaked out:eek:
I hadn't eaten all day cause i was nauseous and i had a shocking headache. I was laying on the couch and went to get up to close the curtains and turn off the tv and i went straight down. Usually there would have been toys all over the floor but my ds#1 was with grandma so i missed actually getting stuck in the ribs or falling on toys as i went down lol.
