I'm all for letting bub do what they're body says they are ready to do, but my little one has started to try pull himself up on things - me, side of bath(i realise this isn't too safe!), the couch, washing baskets. He is 7 months old and not quite crawling yet, but sitting well. So, i can easily move him away from things he can pull up on. I'm just not sure if I should be or if I should be giving him the opportunity to try it every now and then?? Thought he was a bit young for this??
Hey
I wouldn't stress - let him go for it! As long as you are supervising, so that if he takes a tumble you can save him from hurting himself. Or prop some soft landing spots around for him.
My 6 1/2 mth old is doing much the same thing, and very much enjoys standing up as well, so i am just careful to make sure he isn't able to do it when I'm not around.
If your bubba is ready and raring to go, thats great - it will help him develop strength in his arms and legs and be one more step on the way to crawling and walking.
I'm with Nicole79. My bub is 6 months old and loves standing and being helped to walk- the smiles on his face show how clever he thinks he is. He sits unaided and has leant if I say hands, he pulls himself up on my hands. As he cant pull totally up by himself there's not much chance of danger but he does a great bum shuffle that puts him unusual places :o
As neither my partner nor I crawled and both walked at 9 months I'm not discouraging his desire to stand. If he's happy doing it I'd let him have a go. It seems like such a long time since they were those tiny little things that just slept in your arms!!!
Hi
Both of my kids were walking around furniture at 7 months, but never walked until they were almost a year old.
Hopefully your little one will get the balance and depth perception required in this practice phase before letting go and walking. You don't have to do anything to encourage, but don't discourage either ...
Just make sure that wherever your little one is trying this that it is safe, things that are dangerous are out of reach and that you are supervising. This will take the scariness out of it and you will be free to watch the looks of pure delight that learning this new skill will create!

My DD1 started pulling herself up at 6 months and 1 week (she was a lightweight) and walked at 9 months and 3 days. I wouldn't be too concerned as he won't do anything that causes himself pain and his body will develop at the rate that is right for him.
