View Full Version : ~ My sleepy bub, any ideas??? ~
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced the same problems as me, or if you have any advice...
I started feeding my son one formula feed per day about 3-4 weeks ago, on s26 gold which made him constipated, so I changed to Nan gold about a week later. Then last week I changed it to 2 feeds of formula per day. Every second or so night Cooper is awake most of the night wriggling and moaning, he seems like he wants to go to sleep, but cant. He doesnt cry, he is just noisy. I cant work out why he is like this, and Im not sure its feeding related. He does spill a little about 30 mins after some of his feeds, but its not an awful lot. I am feeding him EBM during the day, and the two night feeds I feed formula.
Any advice, suggestions etc would be great, my lil bubba needs his sleep :gloomy:

Do you think he could be um.. working on a poo? :o lol and thats why he makes a lot of noise and wriggles? If so, could this explain why he doesnt cry too?
 Hi! I don't know if I'll be much help here- but here goes...
My DD is lactose intolerant so it might be a little different, but we had her on s26 lactose intolerant stuff and someone reccomended the karicare de-lact (cheaper, better for etc) so we changed over. Well the night we changed it she could not sleep well at all. Wriggled and was just basically restless all night.
I changed back and she's tops now
So maybe that formula is just not working for him? :hugs: I know its difficult- we tried about 5 different kinds B4 we found out she was lactose intolerant...
Hope that helps a little... xox

Yep I think it could be this too. Before we had Rhianna on lactose intolerant stuff, she would moan all the time with her poo's. But they weren't hard- just painful. One of the reasons we figured out her problem.

Hmm funny you say that, he just woke up screaming (after he'd just gotten to sleep as he's been awake 2 hours solid) and filled his nappy so it must have hurt. How did you know your bubs was lactose intolerant? And wouldnt he have had a reaction to my milk as well if he was? (Like when he was only on breastmilk). Im wondering whether it could be this, so any help would be fantastic.

I also changed from s26gold to just the s26 and this seemed to work better for her.
:)
Well I was concerned because everyone said that once they are on formula they get constipated- DD didn't. Then she would only drink about 40mls before screaming the place down :crying: and THEN I noticed a rash on her tummy, so we took her to our GP and she told us to change to lactose intolerant formula.
I swear- different baby! :smiliedance: Much happier, rash went away in about 12hours after switching... It was great!
With the breast feeding, we had a lot of troubles with it hence the reason we switched in the first place, so looking back now that probably could have been the reason... But if he's having no probs with the breast milk... then maybe its just that particular brand of formula??? I would ask my GP and see what they think, I don't know if there is a 'range' with the intolerances... like only a little sensitve to it- so has no effect with the breastmilk, but with formula it does... I don't know- I'm probably speaking c**p here! LOL
Oh I've also read somewhere that the 'gold' formulas are only really for bubs fully on formula so maybe its just too rich for him...
I also changed from s26gold to just the s26 and this seemed to work better for her.
:)
Good idea, maybe worth exploring, as I have only ised the 'gold's', thanks :hugs:
Thanks for your help :hugs: Think were gonna have to visit the doctor  We just phoned the parents helpline and they suggested to give him just breastmilk for 24 hours (lucky I have some in the freezer!) and see how he goes, and if he seems happier than there is a high chance he is lactose intolerant... so :fingerscrossed: we get this sorted soon. Thanks again!
No problems!! Thats what we're here for! :hugs: :fingerscrossed: You work it all out

hi there,
im probably a little too late in replying but i had my son on s26gold and it too made him constipated...
i used to give him a little brown sugar in some boiled water to help loosen up his poos.... This worked..
i did change his formula tho to a thickened formula.
Even tho he was having his feeds he was constantly hungry so by putting him on this he slept through that extra couple of hours... maybe try that as it worked for me..:)

not a problem... always like to try and help people with what i have experienced so far...
well he got worse before he got better, ended up having a period of about 12 hours where he didnt sleep, then he would fall asleep and wake up screaming 10 mins later, so we took him to the hospital. They said its colic. A day later and he is fine, sleeping like a dream again, 2x 6 hours overnight! So we think it may be a bug or something. Also we have been on only EBM the last 24 hours approx, so we are trying goat formula as the others may be a bit hard for him to digest. Will let you know how that goes so :fingerscrossed:
