My almost 1 yr old son will not eat is vegies. No matter what I do. I have tried putting melted cheese on the vegies, putting meat with the vegies, mashing everything up, sitting him by himself, sitting with him at the dinner table, giving him juice with his dinner, not giving him juice with his dinner, giving him his milk after dinner, giving him is milk an hour before dinnerm not giving him food through the day, only giving him breaky or lunch- nothing I'm doing is working?
He eats yogurt, custard and all things 'yummy'. But no vegies?:banghead:
Any suggestions?

dont know what to do 'after' the fact, but i started my boys on vegies...
they didnt get that so called "yummy" stuff, so they had nothing to compare their vegies to
mayyyybe trrrry cutting out the yummy things for a time to adjust his taste buds to the non-sugar/sweet side of life...:fingerscrossed:
maybe blander things that arent sweet to start with then eeeease/sneak into the vegies?
good luck - it can be a real challenge fighting the sweet tooth demon:devil6:

My aunt used to boil up frozen veggies for my cousin, puree them and hide them in things he would eat, like spaghetti or meatballs.
I've heard of people make a dip with cream cheese and "V8" veggie juice. Every little bit counts!
Make muffins with really really finely grated veggies?
Good luck
From my expreience, and from what I'm told, this is pretty normal. They can gobble down a food one day, and then just go off it the next. You just have to keep trying different things and substitute one for the other.
My DD wouldn't eat veges from about 13 months, and just recently picked up a bit of capsicum and started eating it! I was SOOOOO happy. Now tomatoes have hit the menu, and cabbage. Sounds strange, but I go with what works.
Just last week she turned off milk. I wonder how long this will last?
We all posted at once!
Faeml's idea may work. Hiding veges in meatballs and muffins.
I do that too.

You could try adding apple puree to the vegies.
Start by adding a fair bit then gradually decrease the apple and add more vegies as your ds gets used to them.

I started my DS on rice cereal and then onto vegies. He would scream and scream with dinner so I tried giving him yogurt- didn't mind it. Gave him some toast- didn't mind that. So indigoin0z, I don't think it's the fact that he had 'yummy' things first as I was pretty anal about what I gave him.
I haven't tried the apple on the vegies or the vegies in a muffin- I might give these a go.
Thanks guys.
I put veggies into anything I can, if I make a stew I grate or chop up pretty much everything I can get my hands on, I do the same thing with mince.
You could also try making a cheese sauce to put over the top, makes it a bit more tempting for the fussy ones!
My 1yo has also gone off veges and meat. Now this might sound gross, but it is working for us at the moment:
Mash up veges and then mix in yogurt. I use the plain Jalna one.
Stew up a g/smith apple and mix in finely chopped cooked chicken.
Who cares how it sounds, as long as they eat it hey?

My DD is the same at the moment and when she first started solids veges was all she would eat... she would turn her nose up at Fruit or yoghurt now thats all she will eat.
I have found the only way i can get her to eat them is if i cook them big enough for her to feed herself. Carrot sticks, cubed potato/pumkin ect. Some days she will eat it the other days she wont :banghead:

Dear Baileymoo,
It looks as though you have already received a number of good ideas for encouraging your son to eat vegetables. Other ideas include alternating between mouthfuls of ‘yummy’ foods and veggies, dipping the vegetables into the preferred foods and starting with the naturally sweeter vegetables first.
If you use any of these techniques, it is important to reduce them as quickly as possible e.g alternate between 1 spoonful of vegetables to 1 spoonful of yoghurt then reduce this to 2 spoonfuls of vegetables to 1 spoonful of yoghurt etc. This will help to avoid your bub expecting or relying on these methods to eat vegetables.
