By baby girl is coming up 7 months old on Wednesday, and for the last couple of weeks during her sleep she rolls on to her stomach. She looks uncomfortable, and sleeps in a crawling position with her bottom in the air.

We have tried using the Safe and Sound anti roll thing, pillows, and towels to stop her, but it didnt work, she just rolls over the top of them.

I also roll her back onto her back, but a few minutes later she is onto her tummy.

I dont know what to do, Should I be worried she will suffocate if she rolls over, or will she be right sleeping like that?

Any help would be appreciated.

She will be fine - she probably finds it really comfortable - she'll roll over if it was annoying her (she probably does during the night when you aren't there).

They are at the age where I think you wouldn't be able to hold them in place even if you tried (so you might want to hold onto the money that you would have used for a rolly thingy) (IYKWIM).

My 12mth old DD does the same thing and has for months. My 4yr old DD does the same too and has for years.

:hugs:

My DD started doing this at 4 or 5 months. Once they start rolling really well they can get themself out of most trouble and there is no point trying to keep them on their back. Or at least that's what the SIDS hotline told me when I called in a panic. Let her sleep her own way and take out all the pillows, rollls and toys that she might get her face stuck under.

:D I could show you SO MANY photos of my DD in EXACTLY the same position. It's gorgeous, and completely normal. As long as she can roll unaided, she'll be okay. I know it looks as though she can't breathe under there, but she can. My DD is 2 in December and still does it.

Like Martha said, just remove any uneccesary items from the cot - just in case.

If you were really worried about your DD rolling onto her tummy you could buy a Safe-T-Sleep. This really helped my son stop rolling on to his tummy at that age and aided in him sleeping through. Here is a link if you're interested:thumbsup:

Yup, I agree:thumbsup: Apparently both my sister and I were "bum-in-the-air" sleepers. If she was uncomfortable, i'm sure she'd roll over. Try a sleeping bag instead of blankets if you are worried about DD covering her face, remove any toys and use a good fitting fitted sheet.

my ds is exactly the same, although he started sleeping on his tummy from about 4mths. much to my horror lol
i eventually gave up on trying to roll him back, now i just put him down, he rolls onto his tummy and thats the way he stays lol
i just make sure there is nothing in his cot except him. we just have the fitted sheet on the cot and put him in warm pjs. if its a cold night, once he is well and truely asleep i put a blanket over him, it doesnt stay there, but at least its there if he needs it.

my ds from a newborn would not sleep on his back ever... so i put him on his tummy and he slept well... like a baby!! i panicked every night and when i woke i jump to his cot to check he was still breathing...

whenm he could roll he ended up nowhere near where i put him so i removed everything from the cot: toys blankets etc and put him in a sleeping bag and he was fine...

i know its so scary esp with sids but if bub was uncomfortable im sure it would move until they are comfortable...

I wouldn't be too worried. Both my boys are tummy sleepers and from the time they could lift their heads it was the only way they would actually sleep. So they were sleeping on their tummies from about 10-12 weeks of age.
