View Full Version : Cross Eyed, please help
Hi  I was just wondering if your bubs went cross eyed occasionally when newborn, when did it stop? My son is now 10 weeks and still goes cross-eyed every now and then, is this normal? Its starting to worry me :(

I could be just that his eyes are beginning to focus more now.
If he's still doing it in a few months, then maybe get it checked out. But at the moment I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering this, as it seems like he isnt far off of smiling- so maybe he can see more now so thats why he goes cross eyed more. Does that make sense lol !?

Yeah it makes perfect sense!! :)
Yep its perfectly normal as poshbecks said, it often happens when they are trying to focus on something.
I sure hope its normal because I'm 28 and I still go cross eyed when I'm talking sometimes. I don't even realize i'm doing it:rolleyes:

I had this when I was a kid.
Keep monitoring it and if bubs still has it at a few months of age, definitely get to an eye specialist for treatment. It is much easier to correct when it is a young child than later on.
Mine was resolved by the time I was about 5 years old with treatment.
Bubby is five weeks old tomorrow and he went cross eyed today when we were trying to take his photo.
We were over at a friend's place and everyone was looking at him when the photo was being done because we had our babies sitting together on the couch and there's my baby going cross eyed LOL!!!

G still sometimes goes crossed eyed - he is 13 weeks.
I still go crossed eyed as my eye muscles as permenantly tense, so when i focus and try to use the muscles they cross over as they cant tense anymore...

My maternal health nurse said this tends to disappear around 4 months. Perhaps if it persists have a chat to your doctor. My DD is 10 weeks and she still goes cross-eyed occasionally. :D

Tillie does this too...her left eye also takes longer to focus but my GP said exactly what people saying here...wait till 4 months if not sorted then go back...should sort itself out as just a focus gaining control of eyes thing....
