Hi all,

We're having our baby girl very soon. Chloe is really the only name DH and I both love and we keep coming back to it.

But unfort it seems that most of Aus thinks the same thing as it's in the Top 5 names of the last decade. And I wanted something less common.

So...in practice have you guys come across lots of little Chloe's? I'm in Melb

My SIL's name is Chloe and DS also has a cousin aged 7 named Chloe.

So I know two. I haven't come across a heap of Chloe's but I do love the name, I tend to think if you love a name - USE IT!!! Who cares if it's "too common" or whatever. I missed out on calling my child what was in my heart and I regret it daily.

I know of 3 born in the last 18 months!

I think it is quite common but that said, if it the only name you like then you should use it.

My DD is Mia which is also very common these days but it was the only name we could decide on so we went for it.

We loved it so much we called our golden retriever Chloe three years ago... before we though about kids. Then when had the name conversation it came up as a name we both liked for a child but obviously couldnt use! Same goes for Bella, which we called our cat!

I am going to be mroe careful with animals names in the future.

I know 2 in real life. My second cousin who is 13 and a friends daughter who is 5.

If you like go with it!

I think its a fairly timeless name and is popular but without being over the top popular like Sarah was!

I had 12 Sarahs in my year level at school!!!

If you love the name but want something a bit different why dont you change the spelling?

I have seen it as Khloe and Kloe

My DD is Chloe, I have never met another Chloe though. Although I did hear a dad calling his daughter in the supermarket saying 'chloe, come here' kind of thing.

It was one of the top names of 09 and we didn't even realise! We just loved it! It was after she was born and my Aunty came to visit in hospital and said 'oh Chloe, that's pretty but very popular' that I looked it up and saw it was in the top 5!
If you like it, go for it! :)

Love it...my DD's name is extremely popular too. But she has only ever been the only one at her whole kindy and in her Prep Class this year she is the only one and there is another in another Prep class. Not too many and my daughters name I think is more popular than Chloe.

Chloe is a beautiful name ;)

I'm a early childhood teacher and i've never had a year without a Chloe in it. Always popular, it is a very girly name and nice and easy to spell! I don't think it's ever going to fade from popularity. If you love the name, then use it, other wise you will look at every other Chloe in life and wish you had chosen that special name for yourself. Remember your Chloe will be different to every other Chloe in the world!!

I know 1 child Chloe and 1 adult :goodvibes:

In 2008 there were 296,600 babies born nationally. Of that 49 % were girls, so 145,334 girls all up. In Victoria in 2008 only 491 girls were named Chloe.

I guess my point is once you spread 491 Chloe's across the state it really isn't all
that many

If it is a name you both love then use it :goodvibes:

I only know a grown up Chloe. Great name.

People worry too much about popularity. In my state (Vic) the most popular girls name when I was born was Rebecca. I had one in my primary school class and 2 in my high school year level out of 160 girls. If you name your child Chloe there won't be lots of other Chloes in her class.

I say do it! It's a beautiful name.

Why dont you spell it different...... I must say... i am not a fan of "Keeping up with the Kardashians".... But am really attracted to the name Courtney and Chloe.... spelt with K.

Khloe and Kourtney....

For some reason the spelling grows on you!

I work with kids mainly aged 10 to 18 and I have only come across 1 Chloe out of a database of a few hundred kids. So I don't think the name is that common. I guess they are older kids, but it's such a pretty name, I'd go with it.

The names that are VERY common at my work are Caitlin (spelled with a C or K), Tegan (Teigan, Teagan) and Ashley (Ashleigh, Ashlea). Also we have a few Madeliene's, Maddison's and Chelsea's.

Good luck with it!

Any mums with Chloe's ever get told that Chloe is a dog's name? I had an old high school 'friend' ask what I was naming her when I was pregnant and when I told her said "Why would you name her that?? It's a dog's name!" I was very confused... since when are some names only to be used for animals??

Lol my name is Chloe, and there are soo many people that call their dogs Chloe! But I love my name. However I still come across people that can't pronounce it properly, they say Choll, or coley?? Hhmmm...

My best pal Chloe gets the dog comment all the time. My theory is it's such a nice name, and couples are getting dogs before they have babies so are using up their fave names on their pets before they get a chance to have kids. So not an insult at all.

 The only Chloe I know is my cat, and I called her Chloe because it was one of my favourite names and I couldn't guarantee I'd get to use it on a daughter. Of course now I'm expecting a girl :D

Really wish I hadn't kept my other cat's name when we adopted him (Ted) cause I would love to have a son called Ted!
