It depends on how much child support is being received.
CS affects the FTB part A. I will have a look on the Centrelink website to find the calculator which can tell you exactly what you'll be entitled to. :)

http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/pay_how_ftba.htm
(this shows how much you get per child; click then on the "maintenance income test" hyperlink to show how much it goes down if you're receiving child support)
OK so it looks like if you get any more than $100 per month in child support, your FTB part A goes down, by 50c in the dollar. So if you're getting $1315.45 child support per year, your FTB part A will be reduced by $50 (ie 50% of the amount over the threshold) (OMG this is so confusing)
Also, CSA website can tell you how much child support you're entitled to (if you know his income) https://www.csaonline.gov.au/csacalculator/calculator.aspx
Let me know if you want a hand working all this stuff out - I've become quite experienced at working out how much I'll be entitled to.... PM me if you like. :)

THE FTB A payments are reduced by 50 cents for every dollar over the years maintenance Free Area. For 06/07 the Mtce Free Area is $1215.45 (PLUS $405.15 for every additional child)
So eg: if you have 1 child and the child support agency have assessed you as receiving privately $1000 pa, your FTB A is not affected at all, it is only if the assessment is OVER the $1215.45.
You may or may not be aware that if you fail to have the CSA do an assessent on non custodial parent whether you choose to collect privately or not, you will be deemed by Centrelink as not having met the maintenance Action Test and you will only be eligible for the base rate of FTBA which is approx $45 per child instead. Of course there are some exemptions of having to take Mtce Action which are assessed by the Centrelink s'worker-such as domestic violence etc
Hope this helps.....
