So we are hosting Christmas lunch this year. Its just us and PIL and DFs nan.
We are thinking of doing a platter type lunch, something light and weather appropriate.
What suggestions do you have? We have cold meats, pickled onions etc, dips, crackers, cheeses, bread rolls, salad, potato salad and for dessert a lemon miringue (I never spell that right)
It will be the only thing every one will be eating all day as DFs aunt who is hosting xmas drinks won't be providing a dinner (but probably snacks) so I want it to be filling.
I'm thinking of maybe doing a turkey roll roast too.
What do you think?

Maybe do up a platter of wraps, vege slices, quiche, etc, those are usually filling but light.

Would a fruit platter start to seem like too much food? Lol.

go a fruit platter as well. i know i would love some fruit to eat as well esp if its going to be a stinking hot day.
A ham would go well with what you have, love cold ham and salad with a roll on the side!
Mmmm everyone loves a fruit platter I reckon a ham would go good with everything else too

Hey!!
Were doing these things:
Fruit platter including: grapes, strawberries, watermelon, rockmelon, apple slices, cherries, and kiwi fruit.
Cold meats: cold chicken (cooked the day before) sliced ham off the bone.
Were also having the following:
Assorted Cheese and crackers platters
Prawns
Light mixed salad
Mango salad (this is basically mango and red onion mixed with a touch of sweet chili sauce... omg its amazing)
Potato salad & coleslaw
Desserts usually consist of merangue... (how do i spell that??? EEK)
A dutch family dessert, and triffle!
Usually by the end were pretty full!!
I have a feeling that this year its going to be a scorcher! So while we usually do a roast chicken, and roast pork, this year were skipping it because it really is too hot!!!
Hope this helps!!.. Oh and if you want some other ideas... go to Coles, at the moment they have a coles chrismtas magazine with curtis stone on it (the magazine is free!!!) and it has some good ideas in there!
Have a great chrissie!!! :hugs:

Sounds very similar to our Chrissy lunch which we usually have at the beach (we rent out a few holiday units for a few days for the whole family).
There's usually about 30 people, it's pretty casual and we try to keep it simple because there is so many of us.
We always have fresh prawns, cold meats (ham off the bone, cold roast meats chicken/turkey and pork), salads (potato, asian crispy noodle salad, green salad, we also do a mango salad which is yummy and goes really well with ham, cheese platter and bread rolls).
We cook the roasts Xmas eve night so no-one is stuck in a hot kitchen for Xmas day and everyone chips in and prepares different dishes to share the load.
We still have plum pudding for dessert plus also usually a trifle and rum and apricot balls. We also usually have fruit like watermelon and pineapple, cherries and other stone fruits out on a platter.
Xmas night is left-overs and Xmas breakfast is ham and eggs, no one is left hungry at the end of Xmas day- lol.
