View Full Version : Playtime and spoilt baby
Hi all. My little guy is 5 1/2mths old and we just got back from a holiday in Qld visiting relatives. I was staying with my husbands family so Malakai was held 90% of the time he was awake and now that we are home he will not go down and play on his own without screaming. How do I get him back to playing on his own? He used to sit in his rocker with a toy while I could do some things but won't now. We only went away for 10days! How quickly things can change!!
Thanks

It could also be a developmental thing. My bubs is six months old and is starting to reject being alone even though nothing has changed!
What I'm doing is when he grizzles I go and sit next to him and try to distract him with a toy and play with him without holding him and this seems to be working. If he really won't bear with that, I change location - pop him under his play mobile or on a mat on the floor to play with toys. And if that doesn't work I pick him up and take him for a walk around the backyard or something.
I keep smiling and telling him it's all OK and that I'm here. And maybe he just needs more cuddles at this stage. That's OK. I'm sure there'll come a time when I wish he'd cuddle me more and when I had him all to myself and could cuddle him whenever he or I felt like it!!
In the meantime, there's dishes on the sink and a load of washing that needs hanging out and a couple there to do still. Oh, and I haven't made the bed yet (and it's 5:30pm). Oh well <deep breath>. We'll get there! :D
