Hi! I have a Jeep pram that doesn't have a toddler seat option, and a toddler who is a little grumpy about 'giving up' his pram for his baby sister. He does get a little tired of walking back from playgroup, and sometimes getting into the shops or church from the carpark is tricky.

Who has one of those boards attached to the back of the pram for their toddler to stand on? I was wondering:

Is it easy for them to just hop off whenever they want?
Do they overbalance the pram at all, making it unsafe?
I'm tall- would I keep accidently kicking it as I walk along?
Are toddlers often too tall for it? I mean, do they have to fit underneath the handle you hold as you push it along?

Thanks in advance for whatever comments you have!!

Theres the type you can get that is a step so they cans it down too.. its by Litaf and is called a 'seat-to-go' it might be more appropriate so he can sit or stand as I imagine he might still get tired having to stand on the normal type also.

I bought one of these a while back but didnt check if it fit on my pram or not... and it didnt... so never actually got to try it out, but it did look like it would have done the job!

I will be keeping a close eye on this thread as i was only looking at them today. They look good, don't they.

My daughter is also a June 04 baby and i am due in November with bub no. 2. Hope some other people reply with their opinions.

Janet.

My sister had one for her two boys and her DS1 stood well on it, it didn't topple over when he hopped off.
When I pushed them I didn't seem to kick it as I am tall too, I am trying to remember but I think they fit in through your arms and not through the handlebars. They can get off quite easily but when you are pushing your arms are in the way and he seemed to stay there without too much fuss.
I have ordered one made for my pram and my DD is already excited about skateboarding.
And to refer to another thread I have seen the ones with the seat in my local Target so they may be on sale on Thursday too.
Hope this helps:fingerscrossed: :)

Another option might be one of these http://www.newideas.com.au/strolli.htm its like a little trike that attaches to your pram and they 'ride' along behind you, they are sitting so no tiredness, no getting in your way and I saw them at an expo and they travelled really well behind the pram.

Sadly I cant remember how much they were

Aha just found them on ebay http://stores.ebay.com.au/New-Ideas-Dot-Com-Dot-AU_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm

$150 so kinda expensive. Sorry

I have one of the older style Valco skateboards and found it great. The only prob I had was theat I had to walk and bit further back from my pram and being short, this would make my back ache eventually after a very long walk (an hour or so!). My dd loved it and I have used it for kids up to the weight of around 20kg who have been too tired to walk (after a long day out) and it has still been easy to use.

They go up and down kerbs easily and handle rough terrain well. If my dd was tired, she would sit on the metal rim of the pram basket with her feet on the skateboard. If she was really tired, she used to just curl up in the basket, but then she was a little lightweight and could do that - lol!

Thanks everyone!

Hey Charmzy, sorry, I didn't see your post there! I wil do a google search soon for this product, I really like the seat idea! I hope that there is some way that I can try before buying, what a pity that it didn't fit your pram..

Hey Vespera, they look so cool but cost too much hey. Oh well, thanks anyway!

Kyra, I checked out the Valco ones on ebay, they look ok but I really like the seat option now that I know about it. But if all else fails, a second-hand one of these would do the job fine I reckon.

Rainbowbaby- target you say? Well I'll check them out too. Thanks! :D :D

Just an idea, my dad had a pram that 'apparently' didn't have a toddler seat that could attach to it...
He dragged the pram into a shop and did some looking around. Found a toddler seat that fit his pram even though everyone had said one wouldn't go on it!

..Just a thought if you can't find anything that will work for you...

My 2 cents..........I was all for the prams with toddler seats until my SIL had my 2 nephews in it, and she took the bub out to feed and it toppled over on top of the toddler. And he was WELL UNDER the weight limit for the seat. And you would think that as these are meant to be made for a toddler and an infant, that you should be able to take the infant out and the toddler would be safe???!!!?

She has since bought a side-by-side pram.

Now this seat was actually MADE for the pram (Valco) and topppled, so I could only imagine what could happen if you attached a toddler seat to a pram that it wasn't made for.

I'm just telling you this to alert you to it, and ask you to be careful with whatever you get.

Her DS1 was a bit young for a skateboard at the time DS2 was born, but my DD will be old enough for the skateboard......I do like the idea of the one with the seat though. Will have to look into that further once I fall pg......
