i had been away for two days an had just arrived home i put aaliyah down and my handbag and she started to play with her toys while i was talking to my lil brother and doing dishes i turned around to check aaliyah and she was lying on floor and had turned blue and wasnt breathing. i ran over and picked her up i checked her mouth an couldnt see anything and she wouldnt respond i started screaming in panic she has chocked, do something joel (i just couldnt think my mind went blank and i just passed her to my brother and said help. he turned her over and hit her on her back and nothing happened. All that was going through my head is shes dying i told my brother to call ambulance and ran out the house to the kindergarten 3 doors down cause nothing i was doing would make her breath. it was a public holiday and they were closed. I just screamed help me, my baby isnt breathing a lady pulled over. she had been unconcious for about 3 mins i put her over my shoulder and pulled her in close to me and hit her on back and she vomited up a ten cent coin. she started breathing and her colour came back and i almost fainted i just held her and couldnt stop crying it was horrible. i had never been so frightened. she had gotten it out of my purse i hadnt relised and because it was in her airways she couldnt cry and i didnt even relise what had happend cause i couldnt see anything in her mouth. i went though the whole house looking for anything that she might be able to even fit in her mouth or choke on. It was the worst feeling seeing her not responding and having a feeling that i couldnt do anything or even think cause i was in such a panic. when i was younger i had completed a first aid course but im going to go do again just so i have more of an idea of what to do if something like this ever happen again. :crying:

  That must have been really scary. I am so glad that your DD is ok. Even with all the training in the world its still really easy to panic, its sounds like you did a great job.

Geez that would have scared the pants off of me i tell ya. You poor thing. The little munchkins are just so quick too. My DS found a small piece of clear plastic on the floor, (left over from my scrapbooking) I thought i had cleaned the floor properly, but obviously left some behind. He was choking on it, but thankfully was able to breath, and ended up vomiting it up. That was scary enough, cant imagine what you went thru. Poor thing.

A little while ago dakota found a cracker on the floor and nearly chocked on it and it was stuck in her troat and I panict as well....but it wasnt nowhere near as bad as your experience...I cant even imagine how bad it must have been:eek:

That must have been so scary for you! my DD discovered her hands a while ago and stuck her hand down her throat a bit too far and was going bright red. I took her hand out but for some reason she was chocking on her saliva. I turned her over and patted and patted and patted her back until she vomited a bit but I was so scared. Its hard to not panic!

OMG what an awful scare for you poor thing, glad to hear she will be ok now :hugs:

Just wondering, does anyone know if something like that happens, is it a good idea to put 2 fingers down their throats to make them sick? or turn them upside down? I have no idea what I would have done

If you put your fingers down their throat you can push the object further in.

Just wanted to say thankyou for your post. My DS has started rolling all over the place - until now he would just stay on his playmat - and your post served as a warning to me - I'm going to go through and check the whole house to make sure there are no stray buttons or coins or things like that laying around. It only takes one...again, thanks!
