I organised a baby shower just last month for my sister and it went pretty well. we just had lots of nibbles, we had a cake mad for them saying congrats and happy baby shower to them. Made chocolate botties, rattles etc which went down great i bought the chocolate moulds off ebay. Decorated with baby shower balloons. We had games and prizes - no bags to giveaway though.

The games were a lucky door prize - i had a basket of nappies which each person was given when they entered the party and once everyone was there were drew the prize whoever got the dirty nappy one ( one nappy had a big lump of nutella smeared in it lol)

we had guess how many milk bottles in the baby bottle - i made up a guess the milk bottle sheet.

Write down as many baby items / products you could think of in two mins.

the men in the room had to have a balloon between their legs ( too easy under their shirts) and bum shuffle with out using arms across the room and back. winner got a prize. this game livened up the party, my sister couldnt stop laughing.

goodluck and hope it all goes well

Hi at my baby shower we did some games and things like...we passed around a ball of wool and each person cut off the length they thought would go around my belly....winner was the person who was closest.

we also photocopied some paper which had the alphabet A-Z down the side and divided into 2 coloums Boys and Girls. when they yelled go you had to write a boys and a girls name starting with each letter. as soon as the first person finished they said stop and everyone has to stop. You then go through the alphabet for both boys and girls and everyone yells out what they wrote. If 2 or more ppl have the same name for a letter they have to cross it out and it doesnt count otherwise you get one point for every unique name you manged to get. Highest score wins.
This was really popular and everyone had lots of fun with it! Is good to play if you havent picked a name yet too!

Also everyone wrote down the date and exact time they thought bub would be born and how many pounds they thought it would weigh, fun to see if anyone gets it right!

my baby showers are just food, family and friends..... we kinda get freaked out by all those weird baby related type games and stuff!!! (although I am sure it is heaps of fun and suits lots of people!!) This time round our baby shower and DD's birthday are going to be held at the same time to cut stress and time leading up to bubs!!:D

My Mum hosted my baby shower, but I still had to organise the games, cause she couldnt think of any! he he he. She bought little prizes, we just went to a outlet store and bought things such as a mug, coasters, chocolate bar etc as prizes for the guests. We played the following games;

Filled up my baby bag with items that a baby would commonly use/need - bib, bottle, wipes etc.. then asked the guests to guess what items were in the nappy bag. The one who had the most answers right, won.

Used cloth nappies, a blindfold and a doll and got people to put the cloth nappy on the doll whilst blindfolded.. only 2 people out of 10 could do this!

Wrote down the word Baby Shower and people had to put the name of a boy next to each of the letters that made up BABY SHOWER, whoever thought similarly to me, won. Although it was great to get boys name ideas (I knew I was having a boy)

String around the belly as well.

But yeah it was all good fun. I went to a baby shower a couple of weeks ago too and they bought a birthday card from the ages of 1-30 (how many guests there were) and got each guest to fill out a card for the baby to be. They will present this card to the child on each particular birthday.

As far as food etc went I had lots of naughty cakes, lollies, choccies etc.. pink lemonade (didnt want blue! he he he) with fruit in it and a baby shower cake too.

Just have lots of fun and remember to take lots of photos!

Can you have a baby shower if you don't know what sex the baby is??

This may be a really stupid question, but i have never been to one and none of DP's sisters had them!

Who should be invited? Only your girlfriends, or DP's friends aswell??? Oh so confusing!!

Hi candice_bree

I'm having my baby shower this Sunday!

I don't know the sex of bub so my theme is "pink and blue".

This theme runs from the game prizes to the goody bags.

My goody bag is simple. I made my own choccies from baby shower themed moulds (from ebay, just search for "baby shower"). I am going to wrap them up in pink or blue cellophane with silver ribbon. I have made tags to thank guests for spending this special day with us (MUM & bubs).

Some prizes I have are piccolo bottles of Yellowglen Pink sparkling wine, some pamper packs which include pink or blue little soaps & bath bombs and I have bought some smaller sized baby bottles and filled them up with lollies.

BTW I am hosting my own baby shower because I had very concrete ideas of what I wanted. Plus I wanted to thank all my girlfriends and female family members for being so excited and helpful during my pregnancy. And when my guests arrive I will be greeting them with a glass of bubbly and have choc dipped strawberries for them. Yum!

About who to invite-I'm not one for inviting every single female I know just to fill a room or recieve as many pressies as I can. I have about 9 close girlfriends, my mum and MIL and 2 SIL coming. And that's exactly who I would want to be there.

Hope this helps! PM me if you want to know anything else.

you're all so creative! i'm only having about 5 people coming (more if they bring their partners) and about 6 kids. i love the idea about the chocolate moulds and some of the games were so funny.
i have plenty of time to organise it (Nov/Dec) but this gives me a great starting point.

Here are my favourite baby shower games for you:-

- Chocolate in Nappy Guessing Game: Spell out mum's name on some newborn disposables - one letter on each nappy. (use subscript numbers if a letter is repeated) and melt some chocolates in each one. Draw up some guessing sheets so guests can have a guess at what chocolates are in each nappy. Be sure there are some with gritty bits like Crunch. Have the camera handy as your guests sniff the dirty nappies. (Mum to be also gets the leftover nappies in the bag)

- Baby Bingo: To keep guests from getting bored whilst you open the gifts hand out blank bingo sheets. They then have to write down what gifts they think you will get and get to mark them off as you open them. First one to get 5 in a row shouts bingo and wins a prize.

- Musical Bottles: Fill some baby bottles with juice or water. Pass around the circle and whoever has the bottles when the music stops has to have a sculling race. You can also have the stopper left inside one bottle so they can't get any. If you have lots of guests you can make them double up and one is the mother and the other is the baby. Then the baby has to sit on the mothers lap and be fed the bottle.

- Baby Food Guessing Game: take the labels off some baby food and label jars. Using disposable spoons guests can taste and match the flavours with the jars on their entry form. (Good one to have on a table as an ice breaker)

- Addressed Envelopes into Lucky Door Draw: Have guests write their name and address on an envelope to go into the lucky door draw. This makes it easy for Mum to send her thank you letters.

- Guess Mum to be's Girth: For an funny spin use a roll of loo paper torn off to the nearest sheet (multiple people may win). We used curling ribbon and I have kept my actual length one to compare this time around.

Don't do too many games though, guests need to relax too!

I've been to a few baby showers in the past. Another good idea is to hand out a disposable nappie to each guest and get them to write a message on the front of it. This then gives the new Mum or Dad to be something to smile about when changing bub.
Hope you have a great baby shower:)

For my baby shower my girlfriends organised a girls pamper day (I knew I was having a girl, so she was included! : 0 ), we all went to a day spa (or you can get beauticians to come to your home, they quote prices for manicures, massages etc per person), then we had cocktails (or mocktails in my case) and dinner. Was awesome. My girlfriend had some custom baby shower invitations made from www.hatched.com.au

Was a very special and fun day!
