Hi Girls
I'm currently writing a support book on breastfeeding and am hoping to include a chapter about why some women do not want to breastfeed. This chapter will not be derogatory to these people, I just want to include an overall view of breastfeeding and why it is not everyone's cup of tea.
If you'd like to contribute you reasons for deciding not to breastfeed, I'd love to hear from you. You can remain anonymous in the book but if you do put your first name to your opinions, please include a location after (i.e. Melbourne Australia).
My email is Pink.Ink077@gmail.com, hope to hear from some of you soon,
Thanks,
RACH!
Hi Rach
I didn't choose personally (I am BF my daughter) as I am far too lazy to make up bottles, let alone all the other cons! but my cousin certainly did. However, this was due to the fact she had problems with her first son and so didn't consider it as an option the second time. I can ask her to contact you if you are looking for someone like her.
Thanks,
Claire
I made the choice to bottle feed before my first son was born. My two boys have been on the bottle since day one and I'm glad I didn't let anyone try to push me to do something that I wasn't comfortable doing.

I didn't choose bottle-fed Thomas. I BF til he was 3 months old. I wasn't sad when he didnt want to be BF anymore, because look at my bub now he is happy, healthy lil man the only time we visit doc is for his immunisations!

I had really bad pregnancies (both times) and was extremely sick so I chose to bottle feed my children before they were born just so my body could recoverfrom the pregnancies (at 6 months pregnant I weighed 6 1/2 stones). I don't regret my decision as I feel it helped my recover quicker and my hubby could feed them whe I was trying to rest. They were both happy healthy babies :)

Hi,
I chose to bottle feed my baby and had my mind made up by 14weeks preggers...i work fulltime, uni fulltime and thought for me coz i wanted to get back asap it was better off him bottle feeding from day one, getting him in a rountine that worked in with me was a must..and the fact i really didnt like the idea of breast feeding anyhow..
ive had no troubles at all and max is a bubbly boy
Hi
DH and I decided to bottle-fed our 2nd child while I was PG as I tried breast-feeding with my first child and hated it. The hosptial was over-crowded and under staffed so no-one had time to show me how to breast-feed. I'd had an emergency c-section and a drip in one arm with my arm in a splint to hold the drip in (staff got annoyed at having to reset the drip when the alarm kept going of everytime I moved) and DH loved doing night bottle feeds as he felt he was participating. I suffered PND after the birth of my first child and was on AD's while PG with my second child and thought that if I had to up my dosage that it maybe unsafe for her while breastfeeding.

I didnt but my sister did. She chose bottle feeding for a number of personal reasons:
1. most importantly she didnt feel comfortable bf, she said she didnt like the idea of her baby latching onto her breasts (which is fair enough, just her feelings)
2.She dreaded the idea of producing milk
3.didnt want droopy breasts (very vain I know :p )
4.she needed to return to work after 3months and felt it better for her son to just go straight to bottle instead of weaning
5.lastly her DH really didnt like the idea either, preferring her to bottle feed
Just her thoughts......but she was very supportive of my breast feeding although one time when she saw me do it up close she made a face and said "how can you its so gross" I was little hurt by that as I have never commented on her choice but I am sure she didnt mean it to be rude.
I'll pass on your info Rach and see if she wants to email you her thoughts, she probably will as she believes strongly in her decision.
