View Full Version : Interested in a Meet Up?
Ok.. I shall start this rolling and anyone who wants to pick it up, can feel free to.
I can only make it Mon, Tues and Thursday.
So if majority goes for either of the other 2 days, someone else will have to take over.
Also suggestions for time would be good.
The poll is for all the days, and a choice of the 2 locations plus OTHER for anyone who has an alternative suggestion.
Options at this stage are Highpoint or Boathouse.
If anyone can think of alternative or more amusing for children, just say so.

I'm up for a meet again but i think you will find it will need to be somewhere that can accomodate toddlers. The weather is getting better so what about a park? :)

I'm probable in, depending on the day. I agree that somewhere with a playground as well as cafe would be better, but I dont' have any suggestions. Except, hmmm, Botanic Gardens? Is that suitable and accessible?
Martha, the Botanical Gardens may be more central in general for Melbournians, but i'm not sure if it will be easy to find parking or if there is anything there for undercover, in case of weather.
Gee.. i'm really showing how long it's been since i've been to Botanical Gardens now, aren't I? :o
I also agree that a more child "friendly" place would be nice, cos I have a 4 yo, who probably won't be very happy to sit still at Highpoint.
So like I said, i'm open to ideas..
If Botanical Gardens is a go for others, please say so.
I'm sure we'll manage with cars somehow.

Just bumping this along!!!! There seems to be a few Melbournians looking to meet up tonight (not tonight literally!) so is there any other suggestions? What park(s) did you girls go to last spring/summer? I wasn't a part of this back then. :)
We have been to Jells Park a fair few times. I really enjoy it there. Otherwise there is Hays Paddock in Kew or there is a park in Eltham that has train rides. That's pretty cool but i don't know about cover or a cafe.

Theres Skinners Park in the south melbourne near Dorcas street (just off st kilda road)
ITs got ice cream and some food, i dont remember if it has coffee or not. But there is underground area and the park is more suited for 4+ but i had a friend there with a 2 year who was fine

i would love to meet some melb mums at the maribyrong river, the boathouse has a new playground, suitable for most ages and on a nice day is lovely. It has plenty of parking, and you can do a 4.5 km walk around the river circuit after (if youre up for it)
This locations is ideal I guess for mums in the north or west of inner melbourne.
If it is a rainy day, the boathouse cafe is warm and usually filled with little people!!
Thursday anytime between 11-3 is good for me

Just a quick question. Where is the Boathouse?

I gotta question too. What is the Boathouse?
Hi all,
I am a first time mum to a 6 month girl, intrested in meeting other mums.:)
I would love to come along to one of your meet ups.
The botanical gardens would be an easy place for me to get to, and i reakon quite an enjoyable day.
There are over 20 parking space outside & around the botanical gardens (i think its metre parking). The cafe is indoors, and children friendly. The childrens playground area is great, and often has free activities for kids.
Hope to meet you all very soon

The boathouse is on the maribyrnong river, in moonee pnds/ascot vale.
(near poyntons nursery, if you have ever heard of it?)
I am happy to go else where though, just a really pretty spot, no busy roads..GOOD COFFEE and a playground, that suits all ages.
Well.. firstly i'd like to fix my vote on the poll.
DS's foot voted FOR me, while bf.. so i didn't mean Tuesday.. if I had got to vote, i'd have said Thursday!
At this point I'm thinking Botanical Gardens and Boathouse are up in the running.
Although Boathouse is definitely easier access wise, it's not central. And I can see that there are many Melbourne BH'ers who would like to come along.
So is it fair to say Botanical Gardens or perhaps Albert Park (more parking, easier to get to, lots of park for kids to play and playground. (IMO).
So I've bumped this up too :D and hope to give a few more people a chance to vote and make suggestions.
I'm thinking Monday is definitely out, due to time restraints and with absent BHers due to Father's Day.
WE can let this run for another day or so.. and then we can set the day and location based on majority.
Hi all
Im happy with the Botanical gardens or Albert Park. I am available Wednesday, Thursday or Friday between the hours of 10.30am and 1pm.
Looking forward to meeting you all.

I'm happy with either Albert Park or Botanical gardens. Swinging more to Albert Park as I can get there without using Citylink or having to take too many back roads to avoid it!:D

I'd suggest the Children's garden at the Botanical Gardens.
DD#2 had a kinder social outing there one Saturday, and it is really nice. Enter via the Observatory entrance. The cafe is nice and close, too.
I think it's safe to say that Thursday is the day to go for.
Is morning the preference (say 10.30) or the afternoon/lunchtime?
Now for the location.
I think it's out of:
*Albert Park &
*Botanical Gardens.
Like I said, it's been a long time since i've been to the Botanical Gardens, so the location and getting there and finding parking I would be dodgey with.
But majority speaks and i'll manage.
Maybe if we have all those interested (and able) in coming on Thursday list their name and their preferred location? That way by Wednesday hopefully we will have it all sorted, ready for Thursday without confusion.
so I shall start..
Bubhubbers attending Thursday:
Lut- 10.30am- Albert Park (purely for parking purposes) If anyone can tell me how it is around Botanical Gardens, I'm fine with that too.

hey, I dont think I will be able to make it to albert park or botanical, but I am sure will be a lovely day.
To those of you who did vote maribyrnong boathouse, pm if you would like to have a meet on this side of town, I have started another thread for mums in the inner west and north.
It doesn't seem like this is going ahead.
Sara's boys, i have PMed you.
I am leaving this thread open in case someone else would like to take over and arrange a meet up for the BHers in the city.:D
