Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if other people sterilise the bowls they use for solids? I have just started my son on farex and a bit of apple and am not sure if I should be sterilising his bowls and spoons or not? He is bottle fed so I sterilise all his bottles, teats etc so I guess it seems natural to do his bowls and spoons as well - but I am not sure if this is needed? Any suggestions or thoughts?
Cheers

Nah, I don't bother - did for a day or two but now I don't. I do steralise bottles though.

On the courses we did, the midwives all recommending not steralising, especially in Miltons, so that bub builds up immunity to things. I accepted the miltons, but wasn't happy about just washing the bottles with detergent but am ok with it for her little bowls and spoons and so far, no diseases or sickness!

As soon as they start pulling themselves around or crawling, I can almost guarantee they'll find something disgusting and put it straight in their mouth. No matter how well you clean the floors they'll find and investigate that bit of lint and dust. At that point it becomes a bit redundant to sterilise anything.

i never bothered doing the bowls, spoons etc, i kept doing bottles until she was 12 months and by that time she stopped having bottles anyway.

I didn't sterilise his bowls or spoons and stopped sterilising his bottles at that time. Like MarthaM said, he now puts all sorts of interesting things into his mouth so I stopped. Haven't had any problems so far, but he has just discovered the dog.... hhmmm now that could be interesting.

Hope Jacks doing well Bel!
