Hi Everyone,

I desperately need help, BIG TIME.

I have 3 children already and had my tubes tide after my 3rd. ANYWAY, I am SURE I am pregnant. I have all the symptoms I had with my other pregnancies - sore boobs, terrible skin, feeling queazy when I haven't eaten etc. etc. I could only be possibly 10 days past Ovulation as this is the only time my husband hasn't had a sore back for this month !!!

I went and saw my ob on Wednesday in a panic and explained everything and he sent me for a blood test, which he rang me yesterday and said was negative. OK, I thought, I'm just imagining these symptoms !!

This morning I woke up and had a small spot of brownish blood (only tiny amount - something I never have had before - apart from preg's x 3!!!!) and I feel YUK.

It got the better of me and I went via the supermarket on the way to work and got a preg test and did it (not first morning urine though) and it has a DEFINATE faint positive line.

HELP, what is going on !!! I would assume that a blood test done on Wednesday would be more reliable than a HPT. I used "first response" brand... Anyone know if this is reliable???????

PLEASE HELP.
Love Lucy XX

hey there
wed could have been too early for anything to show up, you may have enough Hcg there now for a BT, i suggest getting another one today if you can.
I hope you get the outcome you want :hugs:

I don't know how much help this will be to you but I had a negative blood test and numerous negative hpt's with this pg yet here I am pg!

Oh dear. Yes, it sounds like the blood test was too early to pick up the HCG. could easily be; i think you said it was only 10 days DPO when you had it done. Sounds like you need to go back today for another blood test. The HPTs are pretty accurate and rarely give strong false positives like that.

Thanks so much everyone for your replies.
I feel like an absolute basket case at the minute... and the word "wait" just isn't in my vocabulary !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went at lunch time and bought another two tests (two different brands) and am going to do them first thing in the morning. If I get a positive, I will call my ob and have another blood test tommorrow.... The only thing is I can have the test tommorrow, but won't get the results until Monday....AARRGGHHH !!!
I had my tubes tide nearly 4 years ago after my third baby was born as I had Preeclampsia and early deliveries with all my children (35, 34 and 30 weeks) and was advised against having anymore.
We would LOVE another baby and I have often really regretted the decision to have my tubes done, wishing for one more, but in the end kept thinking it was a sensible thing to do and I didn't want to have a baby any earlier than 30 weeks which my last one was.
SO, I think that if I am pregnant, and everything works out, it is meant to be and I'd be over the moon !!!! I think I'll be really dissapointed if I'm not.
The big problem is the chance of having an ectopic due to blocked/damaged tubes !! I guess I'll just have to wait and see.... I hate the not knowing !
Thanks again for all you comments and advise, it helps to hear other peoples experiences.

Hi Lisa, Sounds like you are pregnant! Maybe it's the universe telling you something! I hope you get the outcome you want, and if positive - best wishes for a long and safe pregnancy. :)

ok, did you actually ask your OB what happens if you are pg?? I would assume if your tubes opened up wide enough to let a sperm or two through, the chances of the egg coming back through that spot, wouldnt be that great, which in fact could actually be quiete dangerous. Was he concerned at all??

Do you know what the HCG from the blood test was? The info below from peeonastick might help. Sounds like you could be.....:yelclap:

There are two different kinds of blood pregnancy tests, known as qualitative and quantitative.

A qualitative test measures the quality of your blood: either pregnant or not. The test is much like an HPT, except it uses your blood rather than your urine. It means the laboratory has a pre-set cutoff point for determining "pregnant." In some labs, a level of 5+ will come back as a positive test; in other labs, your blood must have 25+ mIU/mL of hCG. Usually the lab will not tell you what their cutoff point is; they will simply tell you yes or no, just like peeing on a stick. You may be pregnant, but just "a little" pregnant, and the blood test was not sensitive enough to detect it.

A quantitative blood test is much more specific; it measures the exact quantity of hCG in your bloodstream. Non-pregnant women of childbearing age have anywhere from 0-2 mIU/mL† of hCG in their blood (average is about 0.5†.) Generally anything over 5 is considered pregnant, though 3-4 is a "gray zone" (a little too much for normal non-pregnant, but not quite high enough to pass muster at the lab.) Peri- and post-menopausal women may have up to 9.5 mIU/mL† of hCG. If you have this type of blood test performed, there is little doubt that the results are correct (barring lab error.) Exception: prior to implantation, the embryo does not secrete hCG and cannot be detected. Therefore, it is possible to be in the very early stages of pregnancy and still get a negative blood test.

Well it sounds to me as though your pg!! Sometimes the blood test can show up negative if your hcg levels are low. They set the blood test on a certain reading and if the figure is lower than what they set it on they consider it negative. If your HPT came back positive then you must be pregnant as they are rarely wrong. I recommend you go see your gp to be retested with the blood test. CONGRATULATIONS anyway!!! :smiliedance:

Wow, you have made me curious now. Let me know how it comes out for you! I hope you get what you want and if you are lets hope you can carry to term!! I have always heard of someone becoming pregnant after tubal, but I guess it is just hard to believe.

Hi mumof3prems - did you test again?

GOING INSANE !!!!!

This morning I got up at 4.30 am and did two more tests... Fortel and One step....AND both were still a slight positive. My dh checked them (much to his disgust at this time of day) and he could see the lines !
So, I'm all excited - actually did the groceries at 5.15am and waited for the doctors clinic to open at 8.00. I saw a doctor there and showed him the test and he said quote "Well, from the look of these, I'd say you are pregnant, but we'll do another blood test". So off I went and had the test, very excited and sure it would be +++. He just called me and said it came back as a negative - NOTHING - NO HCG at all !!!!!
I jumped in the car and went to a friends that works at the local IVF clinic as a midwife and showed her the three tests - yesterdays and this mornings two, and she said they are definately positive.
Any ideas what could be going on?????
Does anyone know if you can have HCG in your urine before it registers in your blood ? I can't imagine that could happen and I'm convinced I am definately not pregnant, but WHY the three positive urine tests ???? And all different brands too.
Don't understand and feeling really confused and upset at the moment.
THanks everyone !!
