Thought it might be nice that we August mummies support each other in our endevours to regain our pre-pregnancy bodies. We could have a weekly weigh-in, say every Friday morning:D and keep a sort of journal or just monitor our food intake and activity regime (I use the word activity coz I dont think any of us are ready to exercise just yet!) and perhaps encourage one another when we're feeling down. So who's in?

Ok, I will be first.
Final pregnant weight: 70kg
Weight today: 57.5kg
Goal weight: 50kg
Weight to lose: 7.5kg
Would ideally like to have it lost by Jan 07, but I'm flexible!

Fantastic idea raffee - I'm in :D

Pre-pregnancy weight - 58kg
Final pregnancy weight - 76.2kg
Weight today - 64.7kg
Goal weight - 55kg
Weight to lose - 9.7kg

I'd like to be down to at least 60kg before I go on hols in 6 weeks because I have no clothes that fit at the moment!

Is that because you've already shed all the weight???? :shame:

Well, looks like I'm in for a bad week this week- I forgot its my birthday today so I'll be pigging out on all sorts of junk all week. Should have started next week... Ah well, I guess my3sons is gonna get a nice head-start.

Hiya August mummas

Is it okay if I gate crash from July??

I tried clothes on today for a friend's wedding in 7 weeks and shed many a tear - I'm officially OVERWEIGHT!!!

Pre-pregnancy weight - 65 (pre first pregnancy 60)
Final pregnancy weight - 80
Weight today - 74
Goal Weight - 65 (for now)
Weight to lose - 9

Would like to lose at least five of them by the wedding. I'm like my3sons - have no clothes to wear and it's very depressing.

Hope you don't mind the intrusion...

You're more than welcome to join this group! The more the merrier I say- it will make the journey all the more bearable!:p

My tips for 'quick' weightloss is plenty of daily exercise, lots of water consumption and minimal fat intake, with the exception of olive oil. Also, I found that a reasonably high sugar intake is ok especially if you are exercising, so do feel free to treat yourself to lotsa starburst lollies, or licorice (if you fancy it)!

I know this doesn't sound sustainable, but it should get you across the line for the coming wedding- we can think long term later!

Anyways, good luck and keep us updated!

Good Luck girls :D

I've had a horrible weekend of WAY TOO MUCH FOOD - The weekend is always my downfall and then Father's Day and all that and my MIL came around with fish and chips for lunch and homemade cakes - looks like I"ll be playing catch up all week! I'm thinking I'll need to learn to say "NO"!!!!

Hey raffee - happybirthday for Saturday - Hope you had a great day!

And nooooo head start here raffee - see "above"

What do you mean lose weight? I thought the weight loss fairy would just stop by sometime soon and wave her magic wand (yeah, I wish!). I think it took me a good six months to lose the weight last time, so I'm not that hopeful, especially as I'm sooooo hungry all the time. Would love to lose it sooner, though, and am thinking of going back to the nutritionist (have been a couple times before as have had weight probs in the past, fluctuating between about 58kg and 75.5kg at my heaviest -- and that was before kiddly-winks). Anyway, here goes the stats:

Pre-pregnancy weight -- 58.5kg
Final pregnancy weight -- 73kg
Weight today -- 65kg
Goal Weight -- 58kg
Weight to lose -- 7kg

Did my first bout of exercise yesterday -- a couple of km with the double stroller, taking the kids to the playground. Might head back to the gym soon as I'm not a big outdoorsy person. I do love my air-con and cable tv!!! Well, off to make my mid-morning peanut butter sandwich now. How I'll lose any weight at all, I have no idea. Food's all I've got right now!

Hey gals

Well, started being BETTER yesterday and went for a walk with the double pram too!

Can we overlook the fact that I also had three (they were TINY) slices of my son's b'day cake - we're celebrating early due to family things.

Anyway, just wanted to know whether we're going to have a weigh-in? Perhaps we should all promise to weigh ourselves one day a week and post on here how we're going. Would Monday be good?

My only prob is I don't have scales - ahh, will work that one out asap!

raffee and i weighed in last friday so that will prob be our "reporting" day - feel free to do that or monday is good too if you'd prefer :D

I've eaten so much this week not looking forward to friday at all

Sign me up pleeeeeeease. Due to the Gestational diabetes I was actually really healthy at the end of my pregnancy, now I'm the cheesecake queen. I've eaten about 45 kilos of cheesecake in the last week. :( (But it was really really yummy)

So now I've got that out of my system (oh and mine & dh's birthday & fathers day) I want to get back on track......instead of back in trackies. hahaha.

What on earth do you all snack on during the night though? I get so hungry b/feeding, but can't be bothered to make a salad sandwich at 3am, just want to dive in to a piece of cake.

I can't remember my weights during & after pregnancy - too sleep deprived. I want to lose about 6 or 7 kgs I think. Actually I just want to fit into my favourite jeans without a tyre hanging over the top :D .

oooh wattle i'm the same .... i was so good at the end and now have gone a little bit mental (it doesn't help that people keep giving me lindt chocolates!)
i get so hungry bfeeding at night and its so much easier to grab a choccy or three than to go to the fridge and find something good ...
though i have to say i'm enjoying being able to eat fruit again

wattle
06-09-2006, 18:41
Mmmmm yes I have been really enjoying drinking apple juice and eating fruit too. And being able to open the cupboard and have anything I want without thinking when did I last eat, what's my levels etc etc etc etc. Having the GD really made me realise how difficult it must be for people who have diabetes all the time.

my3sons
07-09-2006, 09:31
wattle I don't actually snack during night feeds (mainly because I can't be bothered going downstairs and getting anything!) but I do snack on hot milo and sweet biscuits that are easy to grab and gulp around 10pm at bubs last feed before I go to bed. I can't even begin to think what I can have that's healthy and not carb loaded at that time of night.

redbaby
07-09-2006, 09:53
hey wattle,...I try not to snack at night either,....but if I do, I go for a fruche or half an avocado,.. filling,..but not too bad,... I heard somewhere that when you are feeling hungry is when your body is burning up the fat,..so I try and see the positive side of that feeling!

wattle
07-09-2006, 11:18
Good idea Jane - I have some yoghurt in the fridge and there's only one slice of cheesecake left, so hopefully I can make the transition without too much trauma  I also bought some dried apricots, dates and prunes so I'll give them a whirl at 3am from now on too.

Dd is up all night and sleeps all day, so hopefully when that changes I wont be up thinking about my grumbling tummy all night too.

redbaby
07-09-2006, 15:34
You poor thing Wattle,... Jasper is up all day and sleeps for good chunks during the night,...I do an 23:00 feed and then a 4:00 one,... how are you managing to get up to your son in the morning if you have been up all night? I still find it hard to get out of bed to Scarlett at 6:30,..

wattle
07-09-2006, 18:18
Goodness, that would be bliss. Last night feeds were 8.30pm (just as my head hit the pillow - doh), 11pm, 1.30am, 2.30am, 4am, 6am aaaagh. Oh yeah, and there was ds's night terror at 9.30pm. Hmmm, there's a don't let mummy sleep conspiracy going on here!

Oh well. All those years of playing in bands got me into the swing of surviving on practically no sleep. I keep figuring that they're only small for such a short time, that helps me get through. When dd is awake at night it gives me a chance to just cuddle her and adore her without ds being around, so although I'm exhausted it's still precious time. (He whacked her in the head with a plastic car yesterday, so there's plenty of 'adjustment issues' going on here  and I am always a bit on edge when he's around her.)

How is Scarlett coping Jane? Anyone else with toddlers going through the same thing?

Not happy with my weigh in this am!

Last week 64.7kg
Today 64.9kg

That's a lovely little .2 gain :( Yep, it's the biscuits

I've decided to change my "goal" to 58kg, that's what I was before falling pregnant rather than 55kg (my ideal weight) - seems like an easier goal to reach, then I'll concentrate on the extra 3kg once I reach my short term goal!

Weight to lose - 6.9kg

08-09-2006, 09:38
Hey Wattle,... you poor love,,,,that sounds like a pretty full on night,..... I am the same as you though,..all my years as a producer with 4:00 starts and 18 hour days have helped me to cope with the lack of sleep issue,...but even the worst tour comes to an end!!!

Scarlett is being an total dream with Jasper,..... I keep on waiting for the jealousy to kick in,..but she doesnt seem to care less! She helps me change his nappy, and pats him on the back when I burp him,..... she loves to sit on the couch and cuddle her "bay-bee Jasja",... so all is good,... we have moments of tantrums, but they relate to her tiredness and frustration,.not to him....

Hi girls, the only issue I have with Estella is that she is a compulsive dummy stealer. It could be her brothers, it could be her best friends, it can be a shape she would never take from me in 100 years, but no if it's there for the taking she will pinch it.

My weight today is 84.5kg (or thereabouts my scales are a bit old n cheap). I'd like to think it's because I didn't have any caramel milkshakes this week, but more likely that it is just random as I'm yet to get really organised.

Does anyone know if you can do the CSIRO wellbeing diet if you are bfing?

I've got 9.5kg to go to my 1st stage goal. I'll start celebrating if I loose again next week too.

raffee
08-09-2006, 11:21
Well done tinystar.:yelclap:
My3sons, no good news from my end either I'm afraid. I've had a crapola of a week actually- nothing at all positive to report on any front. !

Last week 57.5kg
Today 57.5kg

Thats a whole.... big fat ZERO change here. But who am I kidding? I had pizza for dinner last night, and I've been *snacking* on ferrero rochers daily. Not to mention the lovely mood I'm in at the moment- it doesn't make for good weightloss. Hairloss maybe, as I vent my frustration with DH. But weightloss is still far from visiting my humble and bloated abode.

So, here we are again...
Goal weight: 50kg
Weight to lose: 7.5kg
Would ideally like to have it lost in this lifetime!

Good job tinystar :D Don't know about the CSIRO diet, but as long as you're eating salad and veg with the protein, it should be okay?

raffee, looks like we might just have to try a little harder next week! Okay, grilled fish and salad for dinner - I will have to try and be very good over the weekend, that's my biggest downfall.

Hey gals

Well, I bought new scales on the weekend and don't know if they're the same/more/less than the ones I weighed myself on in Perth, so I've decided to start from scratch.

My pre-pregnancy weight - 65kg.
My post-pregnancy - 76kg
My weight on new scales this morning 74 (well 73.5, but I'll round up)/
Goal weight 65kg.

Will now start checking in with you guys on Fridays.

By the way, what exercise are people doing. I was planning on lots of walking but the weather's been horrendous down here and has really stopped any chance of that.

raffee
11-09-2006, 19:38
No exercise here yet! But I'll be returning to the gym in about 3 weeks (when bub is 6 weeks old). I'll probably start off just doing cardio (bike and treadmill), and build up slowly.

raffee
15-09-2006, 08:56
I have good news - finally!!!!!:smiliedance:

Last week 57.5kg
Today 56.5kg!!!!!

Yay! I've lost a kilo or thereabouts. I don't know if its because I've not had breakfast yet, but I'm happy regardless. I think the key is that I've been snacking mostly on dried fruit and nuts and I've been drinking my tea and coffee sugar-free. I've also been drinking far more water and far less soft drinks.

This week, my goal is to get to go for a 40 minute walk at least twice. I will also promise to have a chocolate-free week 9not a sweet-free week but a chocolate-free week)- starting now. And I will be having a salad daily.

TinyStar

Good work Raffee and Rach,

and they sound like some very sensible goals raffee  Good luck sticking to them!

For me last weeks weight 84.5kg
this weeks weight 84kg

so cutting out the biscuits and caramel milkshakes is working.

I am trying to walk but the weather is not always my friend. I'm going to work up my fitness by walking then go back to the gym. I was going to go sooner but I think I will be wasting my money. Lucky I've got lots of hills and interesting places to walk to around where I live.

Hey gals

Don't think I lost any weight this week but today I made a no-fat cake so thought I'd share it with ya... actually tasted quite nice.

Fat Free Cake
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bi-carb soda
pinch of salt
1 cup plain low-fat yoghurt
2 eggs

Mix all dry ingredients in bowl. In separate bowl, mix yoghurt and eggs. Fold in yoghurt mixture to dry mixture, then place in cake tin and bake for 20 mins or until golden in a moderate oven.

Thanks for the fat free cake recipe Rach.

I fell off the wagon a little this week, went out with friends last weekend and DH bought the mega value pack tim tams when he did the shopping. :shame:

But somehow I've still lost a little.

last week 84kg
this week 83.75kg

keep on checking in guys, I need your motivation!

raffee
22-09-2006, 08:59
Well done tiny star- even a little weight loss is good at this stage!

Rach, thanks for the recipe. I havent gotten around to trying it yet, but will do soon.

Jess, about losing the belly, I think the best way is giving it time. It does go back to almost normal eventually (or completely normal if you were lucky enough to escape stretch marks!) . I find the best 'exercise' is something that Lisa Curry once promoted on the morning show with bert newton many years ago now, but its stuck. She said to just suck your belly in all day and learn to breathe and go about your daily activities with it sucked in. It strengthens the muscles and eventually you wont need to be sucking them in- they'll be nice and firm themselves!

I just remembered to weigh in and was pleased with what I saw, but its not for any effort on my part this week! I didn't manage to go for any walks apart from around the shops, and I haven't really been watching what I eat- I've just had a relatively poor appetite because I haven't been feeling too well and I'm totally sleep deprived. Still, I've managed to lose some weight so I can't complain too much...
Last week 56.5 kg
Today 55.5kg!

If I can continue to average 1 kg a week I'll be really happy! However for me whats more important is reshaping and firming so I still wont be able to avoid the dreaded exercise.

Hello gals

Well, checking in is not very joyous for me today.

Last weight - 74kg
Weight this morning 74kg

Another BIG FAT ZERO!!!! Although I have been indulging in ONE (only ONE) wonderful strawberry Tim Tam each day.

Just wondering, who's actually actively trying (as in dieting) to lose weight. I'm tyring to eat better/less and walk everyday (when the weather is supportivE).

Good weekend to you gals

Afternoon girls!! Mind if I join you?? Wow, you have been doing great! I feel like a bit of a slob as I have been eating like a pig lately!

heres the deal, I am off on holiday in 4 weeks and I really want to get closer to my pre pregnancy weight by then.. heres the damage:

Pre-pregnancy weight - 52kg
Final pregnancy weight - 75kg
Weight today - 64kg
Goal weight - 52kg
Weight to lose - 12kg

Fortunately, I managed to escape without any sretchmarks at all and my stomach is back to being really flat - I can even see a few abs already! This is no great feat though as I never have stored fat on my midsection so that was the first area the weight went from. The excess kilos seem to be sitting on my thighs, upper arms and boobs (obviously) heheh

So, I know I am not going to be losing 12 kilos in 4 weeks, but the idea is to be getting closer to my pre pregnancy weight before going.
So today, I have rid the house of choccies, biccies, chips and anything like that, although I have kept the liquorice as I like to pick on that when I am a bit peckish. What I have to make an effort o do is drink more water and eat more vegetables. Excercise wise, I do ok, I walk for about an hour every day with bubs so that she can get some fresh air, I could do with doing some upper arm excercises though as my arms are looking decidedly untomed at the moment .. maybe I will start doing arm excercises with tins of beans or something..

Ahhh Beany - knew I could corrupt someone :D

The strawberry timtams are to raise money for breast cancer - I think I read somewhere that they are trying to raise $150 000 (10c each pack). At the rate I'm eating them, I should have that knocked over by say....mid October :D

Goal weight - 52kg
Weight to lose - 10kg

WowLP! That's awesome!! What's your trick ? I have a party on the 27th of Oct and I'd really like to trim down a little for that- like I've said before, its not really the weight that bothers me, its more the shape and the 'looseness' of the skin IYKWIM.

At the moment I'm having most trouble with my thighs. I just cant shift those extra inches so any trousers I own are really tight. :(

Also, does anyone know of a breastfeeding-friendly detox program that will help reduce the appearance of cellulite?

shed
02-10-2006, 13:01
Okay, I have lost a bit due to breastfeeding and cutting out the junk, so now I feel inspired enough to join in this effort.

I am not weighing myself though. I will be taking a photo of my jean-clad butt each fortnight. I'm sure you guys don't want to see it, but at the end I might post a before and after picture.

DP is NOT being very supportive. I have told him that I need him to be supportive, which doesn't mean saying stupid things like "Mummy's got a fat ar*se" to Baden (he thinks he's being 'motivating'), and then he does the shopping and brings home ice cream. I don't even like ice cream but that doesn't mean I won't eat it, LOL!! Then he brings out a flake!!

Jerk.

He said he is being supportive because he didn't buy me one!!

I have told him I don't have the willpower to resist anything so he needs to leave the junk at the supermarket.

He DESERVES to have a fat partner, the jerk. I told him that.

Another 6.9kg to reach my "goal" weight of 55kg :fingerscrossed:

Hi guys,
Sounds like you are all doing really well!! I try very hard to keep up with the main forum but it takes so long to read the threads that I get a bit lost in the crowd. This thread seems a little smaller so will give it a go!!

Pre preg weight - 62kg
Final preg weight - 77kg
Todays weight - 64.5kg
Goal weight - 58kg

Like someone else mentioned, I'm not so much worried about the weight, more the toning and the 'shelf' I have now begun to despise from the CS. I lost almost 10kg by the time I left hospital as most of it was fluid and baby and due to complications and being on a drip and not eating properly for a few days I think I shed some more.

Trying to watch what I eat a bit and go for walks. Shed mentioned about doing situps with bubs so might give that a go too. Am in a wedding the beginning of January so that's my motivation..

Bye for now,
Renae xx

Congrats to those with more willpower than me.

Hi guys,

Bella8 no-one mentions the "shelf" or "ceasarian overhang" when you are signing your life away. I used to hate mine, I have now accepted it. I saw pictures from a hospital breech delivery, (episiotomy, forcepts etc) and I figure I'd rather have the c/s thanks! :hugs: for you and :fingerscrossed: for a VBAC next time (if thats your cup of tea).

Crappy week for me, I've put on. I wont go into the details I'll just blame my nanna's good home cooking. lol.

I still haven't weighed myself but I have definitely lost weight. I can do up all the jeans I was wearing before I got pregnant and can nearly wear ones from a couple of years ago. I can do them up but they're a bit tight (the dreaded camel toe, LOL).

I have cut out the junk and been moving around a bit more and of course the breastfeeding is burning extra calories.

I read that you should only be losing half a kilo a week if you are breastfeeding. I think I read it in that Babylove book (might have been somewhere else).

Adele, is that Tony Ferguson diet a drink one where you have milkshakes? do you get hungry?

Shoulda seen me yesterday, doing laps around my yard with my headphones on! The dogs thought I had gone nuts.

got bored of that so put The Corrs on and did some irish dancing, LOL. Thank goodness for high fences, that's all I can say.

Bit sore today so it must have done something.

Well, went to the gym today for the first time since having the boy-o. Was 65kg a couple weeks ago and am now 63kg, so that's something. If only he could use his excellent sucking action to do some lipo. on my thighs!

Well I thought I would kick the whole weight loss thing off again, I have realised that summer is just about upon us and I still have a way to go before I will even dare to be seen on the beach or by the pool!
I am now 61kg, so not much change lately, but at least I havent put any more weight on or anything. I havent touched chocolate for a few weeks now, so hopefully if I try to eat decent food, I should start to see some change over the next few weeks .. thats the plan anyway
