View Full Version : Hate shopping for my boy

Why do boys clothes suck so much? I have been to just about every store in Brisbane looking for something nice that isn't shorts and a tshirt or something ugly with a great big print or logo on it for his Christmas photos. I get so depressed looking at boys clothes especially since I'm having another boy. I always get frustrated shopping for DS that i always end up leaving empty handed. If anyone had suggestions for some non daggy boys clothes that are a bit spesh particularly for a 2 year old i would be so grateful. No more tshirts and shorts though! lol.

No idea. I have the same problems, girls have crap load of clothes, DS has next to nothing.

Do you know anyone that could make something for you?

I know what you mean though. I got frustrated at the price of the dress shorts I wanted for DS so have started making him a pair myself. Much cheaper especially since I was able to draft the pattern myself. I've also found some really nice fabric I want to make him a shirt out of.

I know!!!!!! :crying:

I like big w - their baby stuff goes to size 2 often and some of their boys clothes are adorable.

And while I don't love winnie the pooh, I've found Disney (particularly featuring WtP) is adorable, though you pay extra for the character. But I Iike them.

Oh and target at the moment have cute as $10 top and short sets for boys, light blues, striped, one has a whale on the front. I bought them all!!!!!! Cos they had soft shorts, not Boardies, but like cute little fabricy shorts!!!

Alternatively look at pajamas, go the size smaller as pjs are baggy, but I've found some cute outfits - though obviously pjs when worn together but work well as separates.

Hmmmm though, can't help with 'spesh going out clothes'

I just don't want to dress my BABY boy like a daggy smelly teenager!!!

Hmmm, not sure where you live but.. have you tried mothercare at gardencity? Its fairly new (only has been open for about 3months) They have gorgeous outfits there and yes they do have ones with logo's etc but they also have dressy clothes too. So cute!!! but a little $$$$ Good luck! Otherwise I found ds some great long sleeved colard shirts for weddings etc from pumpkin patch at Carindale (not usually a fan of PP) Have you tried some little boutiques? There is 1 at coorparoo junction with some very cute things. Not sure how old your son is but they all have clothes for all ages (not sure about the coorparoo 1 though)

That's the thing everything that is a bit nice for going out is jeans, tshirts, button up shirts. A guy in djs was showing me the industry boys with mini business pants, suits, ties and vests... I was like errr no no that kind of dressed up I still want him to look like a child.

My favourite shop is seed and I'm so sad because their range atm is crap for boys and DS is growing out of their cute baby clothes now he is more a "boy". I ended up walking out of DJ's with one purebaby check button up shirt I was very disenchanted.

did you try myer? i find sprout normally has nice stuff. I got DS's outfit for our wedding from there - nice pants and a white button up shirt, not too pricey either

Have been to Myer, Cotton on Kids, DJ's, Seed, Country Road, Kid central and everything handmade I see online is tshirts and shorts which i already have enough of.

Thats a pity...

:detective:

There are a few small boutique type stores near my work that have some nicer kids stuff. Maybe you could look for some small business type shops in cafe strips?

Also try Purebaby (www.purebaby.com .au). I love their stuff (90% of my sons wardrobe is from there!) and it is all organic cotton and really comfy.

Usually run scotty run, country road and cotton on are good but I have to say there isn't that much great stuff even in those brands at the moment.

I was just about to link Eternal Creations but two people have already done it

I have a lot of trouble buying girls clothes, especially as DD's favourite colour is now blue!

I actually prefer shopping for boys clothes then girls clothes. The girls sections look like a pairy vomited marshmellow and sparkles over everthing. :barf:

i get my son pants from pumpkin patch. Plain tops and skivvys from target. Jackets from pumpkin patch and shoes from clarks.

Just a reminder it is against forum rules to offer to sell or donate items on the forum. I realise it was all done with only the best intentions, but sometimes we do get people with ulterior motives who only come on forums to suck in unsuspecting good-hearted people, hence the enforcing of this rule.

I know - so cute right!? But I have 3 boys (so far - teehee) so I figure I can hand me down so I don't mind spending a bit extra - having said that I don't get much from there. Just a couple of nice shirts and a nice hat for the season you know? I get my basics - jeans, tshirts etc at Kmart or target.

DS loves bright colours and hibiscus etc, but I can never find anything. I feel sorry for him because boys clothes are so drab. Even if I can find a bright t-shirt, it has a skull or a monster or a robot on it.. I feel I don't want to encourage him to be a boofhead!

I know everything is so boring. All the shirts were like boring colours or had something horrid on them although I do like robots and have some robot stuff. Just would love to see some colour and life so sick of the drabness. I just wish there was something other than tshirts too gah.

Kar will check out baby gap now. Isn't it so much easier to buy for girls i have not bought new baby anything.

I would love to buy my DS a knit cardigan but anyone I've mentioned it too says it sounds girly and I haven't seen any anywhere. Boys can wear cardigans can't they??? I'd like a nice dark brown one.

I havent actually bought anything off Etsy yet, but I have seen some gorgeous things. A lot are made in America but will ship to Australia, you can also get some made to size.

DS still has clothes he hasnt worn that we got as presents, so I am trying hard not to buy too much for him! As a baby DS has been so easy to buy for, he has some lovely things - not looking forward to the toddler stage then :(
