My DS was eating on alternating days, pear, apple and banana. he has never beena huge fan of pear and seems to have suddenly gone off apples ( i'm hoping its just a phase so am going to try again today) so banana is it at the moment. at this time of the year i'm finding there isn't much variety, can anyone suggest anything i might not have thought of?? also, when can i give him chunks of soft fruit to feed himself?? he has just gotten the gist of eating bread this way, but i am worried with fruit that a bit will just break of and choke him??

DD can never get enough watermelon. It's in stock in the supermarkets right now but not in season so a bit pricey.

We have a tree out back that is full of ripening apricots, or at least I think they're apricots, so you could look for those in the shop too.

I started giving DD bits of grape (quartered) at 10.5 months.

I sometimes get the fruit in natural juices/no added sugar and blend then up. For a bit of variety i get plums, peaches, apricots. I also get mango cheeks frozen (again watch for added sugar etc) they are great blended up with a bit of baby yoghurt. It is hard at this time of year not much in season- bring on summer fruits, yummo
