Can anyone tell me if you hire a qualified Nanny do you get CCB still?

I would presume conversely if you hire a babysitter for full days who does not have any quals you would have to pay privately?

Do people who have childcare quals get a provider number so they can work privately?

My brother and SIL are shifting to our town and we are all looking for childcare for the same days- so we are thinking about hiring a nanny to care for our children jointly... 5 children- one in primary, 2 in 4yr kinder, 1 in 3yr kinder, and one toddler...

Would we find a nanny likely to want to take on all these children 2days a week?? She would need to basically spend most of the day running around doing drop offs and pick ups! But for a large part of the day she would actually only have one or two of them in her care.

Any advice or thoughts would be great.

:)

Thanks Amy... that's good to know that we'd be atleast eligible for the CCR...

Hmmm, I don't even know how much luck we will have finding a Nanny in our town- I wouldn't even know where to start looking!

Are Nanny's usually people who have done CC who choose to work privately- or a completely different set of qualifications?

you can choose what kind of nanny you want.. whether they are qualified or not.. if they are they are qualified they will probably want more money as they have a qualification.. i have a cert 3 in childcare.. other people just do "babysitting" so they have experience.. but its up to you at what you are after...
i think if you want the ccb rebate and ccb, there would be more to it, like you would have to pay tax and have insurance as well.. but maybe call centrelink and ask them about it?

oh also another thought is, if there will be 5 kids. is there going to be a car available for him/her to use as most cars are only 5 seaters.. so they will able to do the school drop off/pick ups...

Thanks lealea79, I think the best bet might be to give centrelink a call and find out some more info.

Yeah my bro has a 7seater so we would base the kids at their house and the Nanny would be able to use their car for the day.

We have In-Home Childcare from an agency that offers this service. We qualify as we have 3 under school age. Not sure how this would work with your situation though. The nannies are concidered self employed even though they are regestered with the agency and we do get CCB from Centrelink. We are in Brisbane.
