hi all:wave:
i just made this yummy soup and thought i would share the recipe
its easy and you can vary the flavours and vegies to suit you
u need- 1 bacon hock
i pk yellow or green split peas
4 large carrots sliced
2 large onions diced
any other vegie u like, celery etc
water
seasoning, salt pepper soy sauce worster sauce(cant spell it)
a BIG stock pot
empty the peas into pot, pick out any yucky ones. fill with water and soak overnight
drain and rinse peas.
put back in pot add water to cover and cook on med heat on stovetop(i like to mash them with potato masher roughly when they soften)
prepare vegies and add to pot add more water if needed
remove skin from bacon bone, roughly cut off as much meat as you can
chop the meat and add to pot. add sauces and seasoning (a dash here a dash there)
add whole bacon bone and simmer for a couple of hours stirring ocasionally until nice and thick.
remove bacon bone and cut off any extra meat and add to pot. stir a few more times then serve!!!(taste first and add more seasoning if required)
this soup freezes well i put it in individual serve containers and everyone LOVES it!
pls remember i make this as i go so i dont have a clear cut recipe-i just chuck in stuff i like and tase it:D
