View Full Version : Moving to brissy need a lot of advice!
Hi, ive been lurking in this forum for a while now and it has helped me decide whether to have a baby or foster. My partner and i wanted to foster but these last few months i have felt that i really want to carry a baby and my partner feels the same. We live in an extremely small country town in SA and altho my family is supportive (mostly) we have decided to move. I have made an app for the QFG in feb. Our plan is to get new jobs in brisbane and then move before we start TTC. I have so many questions but my main concern is finding a GP, an OB that is supportive, a hospital! I have a heart condition so Im freaking out about finding a good Dr. We are looking to maybe move near Parkinson, sunnybank area as i have a family member in the area. Im not sure if anyone can help but hearing any experience about dr's hospitals or being lesbian mums in general will help.
Thanks! :fingerscrossed:
Hi there, my partner and I have just had a lovely baby boy. Our GP is Dr Roy Lancaster, very same sex friendly. Works from Red Hill Medical Centre. He gave us the referral to The specialist at QFG and we've seen him heaps during my pregnancy and with our son.
Our fertility specialist is Dr Gordon Kilvert. Very relaxed and kind. We really liked him and his receptionist is lovely too. Everyone at QFG was fantastic, we were very impressed.
As for obstetricians, we went through the hospital but several friends have used Dr Brenda Briggs and been happy.
Send me a private message if you'd like to know anything else about the process. Happy to help.
All the best n

Hi I just recently had a bub here in brissy (my 1st was in townsville) I was extreemly impressed with Dr. Fiona Dalzel at mater private clinics. South brisbane. The hospital was mater mothers which many people really like (personally i preffered townsville) but I would definitley go back there just so I could have Fiona as my ob (i miss her already :hissy:) Anyway I know she has many patients that are same sex parents. Infact i got talking to a couple and they were having their 3rd bub with fiona. Her fees are very competitive aswell. She books out extreemly fast though. I know people who have tried to get in at 6weeks preggy and she was already booked out. But she isnt one to have you wait long in her waiting rooms and she also spends alot of time with you and doesnt rush you out the door.
There is a male ob at sunnybank who I have heard is excelent aswell. Will find out his name and come back to you. His fees are ridiculously great and very caring and 100%there for his patience as is Fiona. I have also heard that the hospital at sunnybank is very good.
As for a gp I do have a good one in holland park but I think thats to far to go for a gp if you are looking at living in sunnybank. Hopefully someone can give you a good one closer to there :)
