Hey,
Yep I am in Torquay.. have been here for about a year now, moved down from Melbourne! What part of Geelong are u from? We're kinda thinking about moving closer into Geelong but yea, not to sure! :)

Great! I'm in Hamlyn Heights. To move from Toquay to Geelong is a huge sting. I did it quite a few years back and although I love it here now, I did feel it!
I'd suggest to steer clear of a few areas such as Corio (but not all parts of), Norlane, North Geelong, Whittington (although some may argue), I dont much like Leopold (even if my bro/sil lives there!!). If I had choices and lots of money.. E. Geelong is good, W. Geelong too! Newtown/Queenspark etc, these two are very exp and lovely. Highton/Belmont are good (but not E.Belmont). Manifold Heights is also lovely. In terms of good schools I would suggest all of the above (Newtown and Chilwell both have excellent reps as does Hamlyn Banks where my dd goes). South Geelong is also very good. I guess you need to look at the high Dept of Housing areas and avoid them. Although I do know there are some good families there, the majority does rule and it downgrades the areas poorly.
If you are looking and do find a nice house, if you like you can pm the street name (or it's nearby main) to me and I'll tell you if I think that area would be ok. I have a 22 yo dd who knows where a lot of the 'bad' pockets are for drugs and delinquent kids (hmmm I wonder about her sometimes! lol) and these are areas you would be best to avoid. I really think it depends on what you can afford and what you want to be close to as well.
Good luck house hunting!!
