I'm wondering if my DS could have a kiwi fruit intolerance/allergy. He devloped a temperature and became generally unwell within hours of me giving it to him for the first time. Today he has been a lot better and I gave him one piece and it only touched his tongue before he gagged and vomited. Is this typical? He has no other intolerances/allergies that I know of. He actually loved it when I gave it to him for the first time.

2 of my kids have reacted to kiwi fruit. Both came out in rashes - didn't vomit though.

They can eat it now no problems though - it was only when they were younger. So if it is a reaction to the kiwi fruit he could grow out of it!

Im pretty sure my DD did. Her ear swelled up huge! and red and hot. She wasnt unwell just a huge ear and a nasty nasty nappy rash. Ive been to scared to try again because I have read the second time they have a food the reaction can be worse/

This is what happened to her ear

That happened to my DD, but with egg! I wonder what it is about ears that make them susceptible to food reaction?!

Not my DD, but ex FIL was allergic to kiwi. Definitely one of those foods you can react to.

DD1 (11yrs) used to love kiwi fruit and we discovered she has developed an allergy/intolerance to it about 6mths ago. It makes her tongue and throat feel irritated and uncomfortable.

Jaspers mouth went red and spotty/bumpy around it. I haven't given it to him again.

I have never tried the kids, but I am allergic to kiwi, mouth goes tingly and I get a rash on face and hands.

My DS is allergic to kiwifruit and has been since very little - his lips swell and he gets a huge rash around his mouth that looks like he has an awful parody of clown makeup

It is possible to be intolerent or allergic to any food

Jasper came out in a spotty rash all over his mouth and cheeks with kiwi, he hasn't had reactions to anything else.

It wouldn't surprise me.

Kiwi fruit has some funky enzymes in it that you just don't get in other fruit.

That's how SIL reacts to mango and how my Mum reacts to banana, so its def a reaction :(
DD reacts differently, but obviously to kiwi fruit - she gets severe nappy rash :/ Pity, she absolutely LOVED it!

We see a Pead dietitian and she told me to not give DD kiwi fruit till well beyond 12 months as it is the only high allergy fruit.
