So i've been reading up on this test since last week due to my 1hr test reading at 8.4 and being told that this is slightly elevated, that anything around 7-8 is acceptable.
Could it just be the cocopops, xmas cake/ fruit mince pies and home baked cookies that have scored me above 'normal'? :shame:
I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar result and if, like me, you are going back for the 2hr test.
Maybe it's just paranoid thinking as this is my first but i am feeling terribly guilty for my caffeine intake too. Contemplating where all that sugar was coming from with the midwife we discovered i am having far too many caffeinated drinks too  Tea, Coffee, Coke... all of which we can have up to 3 of a day? I've been having about 4 of each per day.
So the last week i have had 1 cup of tea *no sugar* per day and nothing else containing sugar.
I'd be happy to hear that i am just fussing too much and could just cut back a little, ok, a LOT. Just concerned for the possible implications of my diet and really.... does the GCT reading give hard facts for baby weight and health?
If it counts for health reasons i am fit & healthy in every other aspect.
Stressing too much?

I failed the first test and was really paranoid I would have GD. Can't remember what my result was but it was borderline. I passed the second test though so I stressed for nothing. Fasting made a big difference.

My test with my DD was borderline but they didn't do any further testing, not sure why! She ended up being fine and really little. I'm not sure if the info was lost during my switching hospitals (we moved around then) but it was just never mentioned again! When I was told it was borderline they said to be careful what I ate - it wasn't a definite 'yes you have GD' - I think they were going to wait and see how things progressed. It was a while ago though so my memory of it is pretty foggy.

I have heard it is really common to get a borderline or positive result on the 1hr test though, and a lot of women choose not to have it.

Oh i didn't know that we had a choice to take the test or not, i'd kinda rather they left me alone and stopped prodding and poking >.< It just feels like a big deal about nothing.
Thanks for the replies ^_^

I think it's a case of technically they can't make you do anything. I'm not sure - you would have to ask those who made that choice, I didn't and will do the test this time too, I don't mind it. I want to try a VBA2C this time but if there is anything that heightens the risk (including a GD baby being bigger than otherwise) I'd rather know ahead of time and make a decision with that info.
