Ok this is a first for me. MJ has never been like this. She is in fine spirits (other than the whinging & clinging, but last night has had a really high fever was burning to touch & wouldnt settle. I got up with her at 11.30 & she asked for the potty so I sat her on it & she must have had a real bad pain in the belly because she did a really big, runny poo. I gave her some nurofen & she went back to sleep.

She didnt eat much last night, & wont eat today (which isnt that unusual) but just did a really watery poo in her nappy.

The temp seems to have gone, she's still happy enough, should i take her to a dr or just give her dry crackers & heaps of water for today & see how she goes?

Could it just be teething (she is getting molars)? We were also at a funeral & wake on monday so ate alot of stuff she's not used to (she was scoffing down smoked salmon like there was no tomorrow), could it be that?

Sorry about all the questions.

If the temp comes back the best thing i believe that you can do is the cold washer on the forehead. Panadol just doesnt seem to work all that well when the fever is really high. But the old fashion washer on the head worked wonders for my 5mth old:thumbsup: Havnt got any other advice sorry, hope she gets better today :hugs:

:hugs: :hugs: to MJ

When DS2 had the dirrohea last week, they told me to make sure that he was hydrated, so keep an eye on her nappies and make sure that there is plenty of wee. As well as giving her water, (small bits at a time) give her some Hydrylyte(sp?) if you need some let me know I have plenty. Its always hard to tell exactly what causes dirrohea, keep with dry biscuits, toast, water, and hydrylte and if she still doesnt seem to be getting better or the temp comes back then take her to the doctor. There would be no harm if you took her too the doctor now, would help putting your mind at ease. Call me if you need too :hugs:

Lots of :hugs: for little MJ.

Hopefull she picks up today, if she doesnt though it might not hurt to get her checked out. Her symptoms sound very similar to when Jake had gastro.

Hope she starts feeling better soon.

:hugs: :hugs:

Hi,
Could be a combination of the teeth and eating large quantities of food she hasnt tried before (who can resist smoked salmon anyway, good on her for getting into it).

I think your dry crackers and water plan (and of course Boobie) would be the way to go, especially since she hasnt got a temperature anymore.

Hope she feels better soon

Thanks everyone :hugs:

Goosie, i couldnt agree more. MJ loves the stuff. Refuses to eat any meat except smoked salmon & raw salmon in sushi

She was drinking on & off all day yesterday, so we'll just keep up the boobie, water & will get some crackers soon. She has to get sick when i have a day of running around ahead of me :p

Thanks again for the help :hugs:

If you dont have crackers, steamed rice (if she likes it) is good to settle a tummy. In india they mix it with a little Ghee (its yummy too).

Well DH came home from work early so we could take MJ to the Dr's (he's a bigger worrier than me) & they ofcourse gave me no info :banghead: other than if it keeps up it could be gastro

But we went to mums after & MJ exploded everywhere :barf: Mum said it looks like gastro for sure. Its like coloured water its that runny, also phlegmy. So nothing but steamed rice (thanks Goosie), sao's, water & boobie (which she's had about 6 times since 9am).

This is so annoying, she wants food, but just not what she should have :( Can she have plain cooked pasta?

Thanks again
D

Sorry to hear she's not well :( And yes, plain cooked pasta should be fine. Potatos or even toast would be other options. Clear broth if she's tired of or refusing water, you can even throw some rice/pasta into the broth when it's heating to get some of the starch into the broth.

She's having a nice bath now, hopefully we might have an early night :fingerscrossed:

I must admit though, i'm a bad mummy. I got a pack of disgustables :shame: But i'm sooo glad i did. Please dont punish me cloth nazi's

D - Dont stress i did this when Boof was sick a few months ago it was just too hard to clean the nappies & i didnt want to ruin them ( yes they are precious :p ).
When its runny poo from gastro its best to either use a disposable liner or disgustables if you ask me !
I would also really give a good washing of all the bed clothes etc using a canestan rinse this way all the bugs get killed but then im a germophobe :o

Hope MJ feels better soon :hugs: from us all !
