Hi ladies.

I was prescribed Zofran yesterday to aid in my servere morning sickness. They are running more tests on me aswell as i have an overactive thyroid and they think this could be making me so ill aswell.

Just wondering for those who have had zofran - what mg were you on? I took a 4mg one this morning and to be honest i dont think its done hardley anything. I threw up once. Ive heaved a few times to no avail but i still feel REALLY REALLY sick - maybe it just doesnt work for me???

Anyways just thought id put it out there and see what other peoples experiences have been.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I took zofran for quite a while. It didn't stop the nausea completely, but stopped me actually thowing up. I think my wafers were 8mg?? But I used to take half.
Watch out though, it makes you horribly constipated!! Might want to take something to counteract it.

ive been prescribed it since 6wks preg. am 37wks this week and to be honest it doesn't have much effect on me at all.

i have taken it on and off in varying dosages in wafer, tablet and through the drip.

my dosages went up as pregnancy progressed and i was still sick.
At the most 8mg 3 times a day.

i think its one of those things that work for a lot of people but unfortunantly i'm not one of them

Ive been on Zofran since 6wks with this pregnancy. It worked in the beginning to stop the vomiting, but not the nausea. Now though it doesnt even stop the vomiting, it wears off after a few hours. Im on the 4mg wafer atm and i cut it in half and take half in the morning and half in the afternoon, i also take maxalon on top of it at night time to eat dinner. Maxalon makes me sleep thats why i only take it at night time. However lately none of it is working for me. I see the Dr on Monday i think he will up my dose to 8mg.

Good Luck

i take phenergan at night-time which doubles warding off the nausea till morning and making me a bit sleepier.

indigo - so does that mean you are really only having 2mg twice a day? they'll prob tell you to take 4mg twice a day, then 4mg 3 times a day before they up it to the 8mg doses. they like to leave somthing to move onto if needed.

Yep, Dr only prescribed 4mg once a day, i was told by other HG sufferers to divide the wafer. I cant afford to take two 4mg tablets a day. I havent seen my Dr until before i was 12wks. He said he will review my case again if i was still sick after 12wks, and here i am still suffereing HG, worse than what it was before 12wks. I was on 8mg once a day but found it made me sicker. My next step is to get 8mg wafers and divide them into 4 and take then throughout the day of even take half morning half night. The Zofran just stopped working for me when i hit 12wks though so im not sure where to go from here. I see my Dr again on Monday so Fingers crossed. Im still losing weight and am unable to keep water down. Though on occasion i feel great and very thirsty so i drink loads of water, i had 4L the other day.

I started a bit late (10 weeks) with the Zofran, was previously on Maxolon which was useless! The Zofran took the edge off it but still felt sick. I'm still on Zofran on the odd occasion and it now completely gets rid of the nausea if I take it. I'm on the 4mg tablet but had to previously take the 8mg in the early stages.

I must say, after trying many things, Zofran worked the best for me.
