I am a Mum to 9 week old girl who has just been diagnosed with reflux. She is very healthy otherwise but suffers the usual symptoms mostly during the day. Nightime she sleeps in between 4 hr feeds but settling can sometimes be up to 2 hours.
She has just been prescribed Zoton medicine by the paediatrician and has been on it for 9 days now. I have noticed that it has taken the edge off her pain but not a huge improvement. I am wondering how long it should be before it really kicks in. The only way I can get her to sleep during the day is on me which is taking its toll on the rest of the family (we have 2yr old aswell).
Also does anybody have any other suggestions for trying to get her to sleep during the day? I have tried propping up her cot, sleeping on her side, swing etc but nothing seems to work consistently.
Perhaps I am expecting too much but I am finding it hard to adjust as my first born was perfect in terms of feeding and sleeping.

Hey my 4 month old DD also has reflux and the thing that had been great for her sleeping during the day is an ergo!

No real advice but lots of :hugs: My DD2 was excatly the same and it was soo hard with a 2 year old as well. On the up side DD2's reflux has calmed down alot now she is a bit older and she is settling well. The ergo is a good idea and it gives you your hands back to help your 2yr old. you could also go back to the dr about upping her dosage. Hope it gets easier for you soon

Thanks for your very kind post :) It is nice to know that there are others who have weathered the storm. How old was your first when the reflux eased up? The current dilemma I have in my head is that I think that the Zoton is helping to a certain extent but I still can not getting any consistency with her sleeping during the day.( on rare occasion might get 1 sleep of 2 hrs but most days only half hour or nothing). I am considering getting Ngala in to help with settling issues but not sure whether it is worth it if it is the reflux issue that is keeping her awake. At night she settles well..Arghhh it is so frustrating :(

She may just be a catnapper ... Alot of babies sleep patterns change between 8 and 12 weeks ... Is she generally happy during the day or cranky?

Does ngala use controlled crying? I would be very hesitant to use that on a bub so young, and also, crying for extended periods can aggravate reflux terribly ...

Another thing, with some babies it can take up to a month for the meds to well and truly kick in ... It did for us .. Your bubbas oesophagus has a lot of healing to do as well ...

Eta: to answer your other question, mist bubbas start to grow out of it when they are more upright with sitting and crawling ... My ds is 9 months and has only just started to seem as if he's out growing it ... Sometime out grow it til they're past one year old ...
