Hi! How are you?

I live in a semi-busy suburban street, where lots of families live.

I just want to express my absolute disgust that EVERY DAY I see at least 2 kids riding push bikes without helmets! And magority of the time they are primary school aged children.

There is absolutely NO WAY I'd let my child ride a push bike without a helmet. NO WAY.

If I'm out walking my child in his pram, or getting the mail, and they ride past me, I can't stop myself from saying to them "Where are your helmets?"

I am utterly disgusted especially as I had a close school friend who thought helmets were for dorks - well NOT having one KILLED him.

He was riding down a hill and fell off the edge - killing him instantly!!!

It just freaks me out and makes me soooo mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

how about whats even worse when kids ride their bike with the their helmet on the handle bars. WTF are they protecting the handle bars from injury :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: . I nearly hit a kid last week who rode his bike off a side straight without stopping straight through a main street thank god i was driving slowly and was able to stop and he was not even wearing a helmet (his helmet was on this handle bars).

i remember when i was a kid that we had to always wear our helmet we were never allowed out on our bikes without one and we werent even allowed out of our street! I can also remember there used to be a big emphasis on helmets in the media and campaigns for it! Why dont they do that anymore?
When my dd is old enough for a bike she will most definetly have a helmet and she will always wear it !!!!

Makes you mad doesnt it that the parents would allow their kids to ride around with no protection  Isnt it against the law to even ride a bike without a helmet these days??

Up until early last yr we lived in rural SA. In our area everyone wore helmets, and if you didn't most ppl thought you were an idiot.
We now live in busy innerwest Sydney and the only ppl I ever seem to see wearing helmets are couriers. It seems NOONE wears them around here, absolutely ridiculous and idiotic. Our 8 yr old daughter ALWAYS wears her helmet, even if she's only riding up and down the footpath in front of our house.

Ppl who don't wear helmets deserve what they get, but to not teach children the importance of wearing helmets makes me question how immortal they think kids are.

Yesterday while driving near the fairly busy main part of our suburb a dad was walking with his 2 kids (they looked like they were both all of maybe aged 3 and 5ish) who were riding their bikes with no helmets. I mentioned to df how disgraceful it was that this man was actually walking around with his kids and not even thinking of their safety and worse still they were near such a busy main street

It makes me really mad though to watch shows like McLeod's Daughters and they continually show characters riding horses and motorbikes without helmets. They should be setting an example to children, not being worried about their hairstyles!

i live near a primary school and i always see the school kids riding bikes with no helmet and the school is on a busy road! i have seen some kids have near misses on their way across the road to get to and from school, but they still dont wear their helmets.
on the otherside of town where my mum lives i often see the police giving out fines to people not wearing helmets.

I'm like you guys. Helmet is a MUST!

I bought my DS a trike where I push it and he just holds on. Even when riding tihs- he ALWAYS wears a helmet. I beleive if I insist on it right away than he'll get the picture that he's not allowed on the bike without a helmet, and if I ever catch him on the bike without a helmet- BIG TROUBLE!:shame:
I can't beleive some parents. How can they claim to love these kids so dearly when they're willing to virtually put them in front of a car without any protection what so ever. It's like putting them in front of a firing squad with no armour.

Sorry, got a bit carried away, it just makes me so mad!
