Hi All,
Hmm, well I remember reading in 'Up the Duff' with my first baby that women could find their boobs lactating coming up to birth but mine never did. Last night both my breasts felt quite firm and slightly uncomfortable and instinctively I started to massage them the way I used to, to get the milk flowing when I bf'd with last baby. What do you know?! Blinking colostrum starts pouring out! I was glued in fascination when DH turns up and want to know what I'm doing squeezing my two breasts and staring at them so intently LOL!!
He told me off and said I'll be lactating for the next 6 weeks before the baby arrives and will end up with wet patches on my shirts if I dont leave my boobs alone!!
Anyone have anything similar happening to them?
ps: I thought the body had to drop in oestrogen to allow milk production and that only happened after birth?

Hiya,

Well first off... LOL!

I read that and i can really relate right now because my boobs have started to do EXCATLY the same thing i'm only 23wk 3 days so i'm a bit earlier than you. But i get the same sensation they feel full and maybe a little sore around the nipple area so you do what you think is right and massage them a bit and then all of a sudden you've got gooey stuff going everywhere. :o The other morning i woke up from lying on my side to discover goop all on my arm. (sorry if tmi) I'm not sure if your already in maternity bra's but I was telling the ladies in my Dec thread that i've already bought my maternity bra and i strongly advise the BONDS new range of maternity bra's they are sensational but only go to a D cup which kind of sucks. i went from a 10A to a 10D, but i have to wear a 12 C maternity bra.

This is my first and i can say that i've handled everything from being superglued to my undies by the mucus plug forming at about 5-6weeks to having a weird mutant moving around my intestines, but this whole boob/breatfeeding thing reallllllllyyyy grossed me out a fair bit. DP thought it was just great as for me i was running around the house in the nud trying to get into the shower...

Whats with men and the fascination of Breastfeeding???

Same for me - I never leaked a drop with my first but still had lots of milk after she was born, but this time I started leaking at about 29 weeks. Only occasionally but yep it's there :)
Seems our bodies know what they have to do this time.

Yep, i was like a dairy factory from about 12 weeks too. Who ever thought they would have to wear nursing pads for the majority of their pregnancy!!!

Hi Ladies .

I started to have colostrum at 20 weeks and now I'm expecting it every 3 days : when it's engorged , it just wants to get out ..
Funny thing , only the right one leaks !!!

I've been wearing my bra and pads from the last few nights ... funny and weird feeling at the same time ... :o

Take care .

At about 30 weeks I had an obs appointment and the midwife asked me if I had any milk and I said no. She showed me how to massage the nipple and I had colostrum come out. Its bright yellow. She told me to do it every day to get my nipples prepared for feeding.

33 weeks is good - Mine started from 20 weeks!

To those who don't actually have it happening, don't stress - its not an indicator of how much milk you'll produce post-birth.
