We have three lovely :valentine: children aged 5, 2 and 8 months. My husband and I are thinking of having another child but my husband is concerned that we won't be able to provide the same things for all of them e.g. private school, sports or music activities as well as the occassional family holiday .
Was wondering if there are others out there who have four children, who still have holiday's while providing them with 'private school' education (this is not to say the state school's are bad it's just something he wants to do for our children) and other activities.
How have you done it?
Have you had to go back to work early?
Has your husband/partner had to get a second job?
Have you had to reduce your spending on groceries that are luxury items e.g. chocolate biscuits?
Do you have your own vegetable patch?
Did you save for a few years prior to starting your family?
I'd love to hear your experiences as this would help clarify how other people do things, all our friends are either two or three children families who aren't thinking of expanding their families any further so its making the decision much harder to make.
Looking forward to hearing your responses :goodvibes:
Im sorry I can not answer your Question I am actually wondering the same thing u are asking except i have 2 beautiful healthy children and i am trying to decide if we should have another. All the same questions but if u dont mind i will ask again anyway. I already have my princess and my little amn obviously i will have one of them again will she still be my little princess? Will he still be my little man? How much harder is it financially? Will we be able to go away on family holidays? I have so many questions but im not sure if I am putting my question in the right spot. If u do reply I am sorry but i will probally ask u heaps more questions. Thanks bec
Hey there...we are weeks away from havin number 5 :) The others are 10, 6, 4, and 2 :)
How have you done it? YES
Have you had to go back to work early? NO, I don't plan to go back to work, being a mum and running them around to their activities, school things is a fulltime job and always will be
Has your husband/partner had to get a second job? NOt really but he does some photography on the side. NO amount of money would be worth the ids not seeing their dad.
Have you had to reduce your spending on groceries that are luxury items e.g. chocolate biscuits? - We don't buy choccy bikkies anyway :p Hehe. We always have enough food. Most of our grocery money is spent at the fruit and vegie shop and the butcher. I don't buy anything processed which I believe works out cheaper.
Do you have your own vegetable patch? - NO, but would LOVE to, we just need a rainwater tank. We have some cherry tomatoes growing, does that count?? Hehe
Did you save for a few years prior to starting your family? NO and we do fine.
We go on family holidays alllll the time. The kids have been to Germany, New Zealand, Amsterdam, Fiji, Dubai and plenty of local trips to the coast etc. Next year we are going skiing! Can't wait!!
They all do the activities of their choice (alot of running around because they are all good at different things and have different interests) and quite costly but I can't think of anything better to spend money on. They go to private school also.
My DH earns an average wage and everything we spend in on the kids but we are happy with that.
Bubhub ate my first answer. :hair:

I find we change the way you shop changes, you buy in bulk, make things from scratch etc. We do still buy some luxuries

Yes we do, it's small but it's growing all the time.
Did you save for a few years prior to starting your family?
No We found out we were 5 weeks pg when we had been married for 7 weeks. :o and just kept going from there.
I hope this helps some.
