Forgive my ignorance.....

Okay.....:smiliedance: .....I've just received my beautiful new hempadelic BubbaJ nappy from The Cauldron.....do I wash it first before gracing DD's bottie with it, or just whack it on her (with cover, naturally)?

Thank you Oh Great Nappy Goddesses.....:)

All hemp needs 3 good washes before use to get them thirsty but im not too sure about this nappy but im sure it would be the same. Most hemp takes three washes so you can use them & then up to 10 washes before its fully absorbant. So you may find the first few times you use the nappy you dont get maximum absorbancy.
Did you get any instructions with it ?
If you didnt then i would send them an email asking just to be sure.

If it's made of hemp it'll need 3 hot washes first. (I may be wrong, but I know hemp prefolds need that so I assume hemp nappies do aswell.)

I never wash hotter than warm nick .. just so that you know .. lol

I hate the idea of wasting my precious hot water ... and I would only wash it ONCE before use ... and then use it .. but only briefly (remembering that the absorbancy increases as you go) ..

I can rarely wait to use my fluffy mail when it arrives.. so at times I have used them fresh from the delivery packet.. - but never for long .. :D

Ta Veve.....wondered how long it'd be before you popped in!:)

I debated putting it straight on her, but it's in the washing machine right now....too late!!

It's so cuuuuute - just a shame it needs a cover on it....but we live and learn....

2 things nick :)

1) if you put an extra hemp booster in it (try cherubs kiss in a weeks time .. she makes the right sized boosters for about $2 each ... ) - you may not NEED a cover around the house .. especially in summer.. after a while you get used to how much boosting your child needs and for how long it will last ..

2) when she wears it .. can you take a photo and use photobucket???

:)

Just a side note. You dont have to dry the hemp between the first 3 washes. What i did is wait till i had heaps of washing & chucked it in with 3 loads. Then used it & had no issues
