How long after losing mucus plug did labour start?

Hi ladies,

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and just lost my mucus plug. (Had a 'stretch and sweep' on Friday, which may have stirred things up. I have GD and am due to be induced on Wednesday due to insulin's impact on placenta. I am 2cm dilated with a 'favourable cervix' and bub has been engaged for about 3 weeks).

What I'm hoping is that the baby is going to arrive before the induction. Last time, I think I recall losing my mucus plug and going into labour the following day.

I know after your 'show' it can mean labour is hours, days or even weeks away, but I'd love to hear how long it took for you...

Just b4 40wks i had a S&S down i was 3cm and started losing my mucus plug for a wk. i had it done on the tuesday and he was born the following tuesday. even though the midwife said she would put money on me being back up at the hospital that night

Hi, I lost my plug monday late afternoon and went into labour 3am wednesday morning. I remember starting a thread with the same question!

Within 24 hours. I went into labour on Thursday night, pretty sure I lost it the Wednesday night, then more on the Thursday morning. By that night I was in early labour. That said my labour was 36 hours, so DD wasn't born until Saturday :P

about 30 min later was in labour with 3 min apart contractions.

i felt it come out (as i was going to the loo, could see it) and bout the same time my waters broke (well actually leaked lol) TMI i know :barf: and that was at 4pm and then pretty much started to have comtractions more frequently and DD was born at 10:35pm

it all depends i remember when my DP rang the midwives when the plug came out they were saying "oh it could be up to another two days just take it easy" :laughing:

I lost mine at 37 weeks, and was induced at 38 + 4 weeks @ 3cm dialted. So really sure how long it would have been if I went on my own, can't have been too far away though surely

I was already in labour. When we arrived at the hospital I needed to throw up. With the pressure of being sick I literally blew out my plug. Sorry TMI but quite funny now when I think about it.

i had a show at 6:30am in the morning..bub was born at 1pm that same day :)

With DD I lost mine a day or two after a S&S, I didn't go into labour until a week later. The OB doing the S&S said I was 2cm, a few days later a different OB was checking to see if I was favourable for an induction said I was hard and totally closed. But DD wasn't engaged at all and the show didn't have any blood in it.
With DS I woke up having contractions and lost it throughout the day, this time it had blood in it (sorry if TMI) He was born 3:30am that night/next morning :)

I lost it on the Thursday night, and waters broke on the Friday night, and labor started 4am Saturday morning!

Lost mine in the morning, had bub that night.

I started losing mine from 38 weeks, had a show at 9:30am the day before edd, contractions started about 8 mins apart 12hours later and I had DS 5:00pm on his due date.
