Hi, I am due to have my first baby in March 05 by caesarean. Looks like we may be moving though from Brisbane where I already have a great ob and hosp. Seems the move is likely to happen in January and I would desperately love to hear from other mums and their recommendations for in and around Adelaide for a great easy to talk to ob and caring private hospital . Thanks

Hey Pearl,

I had my son Charlie in March this year, and I had him at the Burnside War Memorial Hospital. It was fantastic, and i will be going back there for the rest of my kids, (when we decide to go again!!) My OB was Dr Kay Wilson, and I found her really easy going and relaxing. Both get my thumbs up :)

Hi, I used to live in South Australia and I had my baby at Ashford Hospital. It was great and the staff were all really friendly. They also make great scones! And there is a mums group at the hospital for mums that have their babies there. My ob was Dr Trevor Mudge and he used to be the head of the Medical Association. He was fantastic and I would definately go back to him.
Goodluck. :)

:) Thank You both very much, to be honest I am really scared about the whole move, all my friends and family are here in Brissie and my whole support network will be gone so I will need an Ob that can be really understanding, I will look them up when I get there.

My ob in Adelaide was Dr X. Totally fantastic. I would recommend him to anyone. He has delivered both my babies by c-section and no complaints here. My recovery both times was amazingly uncomplicated. He is also a very laid back, relaxed sort of person- just what you need when you are hormonal and panicking about things (as I tended to do quite a bit). Very approachable.

Also, he bulkbills all consults except the first and his delivery costs are only about $1,100 out of pocket (very reasonable). I had them both at Burnside - more like a luxury hotel than a hospital. But you have to book in asap cos they fill up very quickly. Dr X also goes to Calvary and this is an excellent second choice.

Hi
it is a big move but Adelaide is a really lovely place to live and we do have some great support networks. I felt a little isolated when I had my little man but I've since got involved in a first parents group with child and youth health which is genearlly a group of 1st time mums meeting to together for 6weeks. Playgroup and kindermusic all great ways for your baby to interact and you to meet new people and they do encourage from new born!!!
Hospitals Ashford & Burnside are both really great hospitals to have your babe!!!
