did anyone else find that this happened to them when they quit smoking?

this does not relate to most of my friends, only the select few.

as soon as they find you have quit smoking they suddenly back off from you ??
yep, makes quitting a hell of a lot easier. while i sit here bored ****less not actually wanting a smoke for the hit of it but rather to be noticed...

i have some friends that smoke that are being fantastic, they have not changed their habits to walk on egg shells around me and what not and are not 'ignoring' me thinking its helping me.

I actually found it changed my group of friends :eek: I never realised how 'social' smoking was. We all used to go out side for a smoke break together at work. and when i stopped smoking, they stopped 'sharing' gossip with me (not that that was nessesserily a bad thing) but i was no longer out there, relaxing and having a whinge with them and soon i realised that I never spoke to them except when we were having a smoke break so soon those 'friendships' dried up.
Another eye opener, it was pouring rain and we were all out having a few drinks at a club. they all wanted to sit outside in the wind and cold so they could smoke, ofcourse this didnt appeal to me. So I sat inside drinking and dancing with some strangers Id befriended :D

I agree with Lionheart, smoking is such a social thing these days, not just an addiction. It's like your killing 2 addictions these days, the bodily need for them, and the social aspect they give that we are accustomed to.

I am lucky that as I've grown older, I have more friends who don't smoke then those who do, but the ones that would drink with me do smoke... thats been one of the harder things to adapt to.

Well done on quitting, I have been smoke free for 4mths. I had quit many yrs ago but stupid me started again because all my friends smoked back then!
