I have always found that the wraps I have bought/been given, have not been big enough and are usually not very nice (esp for boys). I am thinking about starting to make them to earn a little extra $ and am after your opinions...

Best fabric? Width? Length? How much are you willing to pay? Anything else?

I was given an "Angel Wrap" (http://www.downunderkids.com.au/babywraps.htm) by a friend and it saved my life! It's a shaped muslin wrap that would be big enough for even the boof-iest kiddo. Even my mini-houdini had a tough time escaping from it.

It's made of muslin and cost $22.99  Worth every cent.

I'd like them to be bigger than the ones you buy in all the stores and made of brathable fabric like musliln or cotton. I think a size of around 150cm squared would be great, esp for the bigger bubs that still like to be wrapped.
I would pay $15 for one for sure.

I found that once DS hit the 3 - 4 month mark, he could get out of the smaller wraps really easily. I started using cot sheets and they were great. I would suggest the same width as a cot sheet, and maybe 3/4 of the length. I would be willing to pay up to $20 for a good quality wrap, either 100% cotton for summer or flannelette for winter. A great idea, good luck!

As far as muslin wraps go, Pumpkin Patch's ones are by far the best Ive tried. They are nice and large, and very soft. Excellent for warmer months.

I have a mini obsession with wraps LOL as does my son hehehehe

I love searching the net for new funky cute wraps BUT refuse to pay too much for them.

I would pay $15 a wrap.

And would be very interested to see how you go with your new business venture....Good Luck, hope its successful!

I have the pumpkin patch wraps too, and love them.

He uses them as a security snuggle now.

I made my wraps out of cot sheets too. As my babies got bigger and stronger they could get their arms out all the time.

The best, and only ones I've bought myself, I have are from Monstar (http://www.monstar.com.au). They are a bit expensive but I think worth it. They are some of the biggest you can get too.

I had various cotton wraps- ranging from the small 70cm by 70cm up to the 1 metre square ones. To be honest, all were way too small by the time Ronan was about 3-4 weeks old and with Ariene it was only 1-2 weeks. A waste of money.

I found cot sheets to be fantastic from then on in- I have some lovely soft cotton flannellette that has been so good for my winter baby. Some of mine are from the op shop, some bought new. I also halved and hemmed a single bed sheet to make two. If it were hot I'd buy some cotton muslin off the roll and hem it to make my own huge wraps. I never understood why wraps are made so tiny!

I never really used wraps, my kids were born in both spring and summer. Where we live it is hot all year round except for about a month, we never have too much winter. I used a wrap for a couple of weeks with both kids but i found they hated them and they got too hot in them. I still had heaps though that i had been given from my sister in law for when we went out at night (which wasnt very often).

I have found the best ones I've used to be from Target and are called Minko - they come in a pack of 3 (pink, purple and white or blue, yellow and white) and they are around $30 normally, but I got them when they were 30 or 40% off. They are made from a waffle knit cotton and are 75cm x 100cm. They are stretchy, and despite being a tad too small for DS's length to wrap his legs in, I can at least get his arms wrapped in them to stop him pulling his dummy out of his mouth. And they're not too hot either.

Pity they weren't bigger :(.

Theres a lady in Perth who makes cot sets, wraps etc. Timabear is the brand 100% cotton. Thats what i bought when DS got too big for the regular ones. They were fantastic but very plain, it would be cook if someone/you brought some XL funky designed wraps out! I perfer cotton as they are strechy and you can wrap them up tighter.

I love plain cotton ones, and would pay up to $10 for one of these.

Hi frazzled,

I found that muslin was great for the summer (living textiles did a fab range - massive they are!) and then flanelette for cooler seasons. I LOVE flanelette xx

The Living Textiles Company (LTC) wraps are just fantastic - so huge. I bought lots and lots of wraps but my little guy is now 4 mths old and I'm not wrapping him anymore so feel like I wasted a bit of money.

However, I wouldn't buy little sized ones - what a waste!

my DS could get his arms out of a wrap from day 1! (little monkey lol) :banghead:

i like the stretchy material. has to be tuble dryable (without shrinkage) and big! even the 1m x 1m were too small for us..... id pay up to $15 for a good quality one (maybe $20 at a push)

good luck
