On Thursday 7 September 2006 there is a free public session being held to promote positive parenting, child safety and child protection. It is being held at the Rivercity Christian Church, 166 Sydney Street, New Farm (as they kindly offered a free venue) and hosted by Protect All Children Today (a not-for profit organisation promoting child protection) and the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. It will run from 7pm to 9pm, and there is parking at the venue.
The session will address topics such as safety at recreational venues, internet safety, what you should teach your children about sexual and physical abuse and how to prevent it happening, what to do if your child has been abused or you suspect abuse, and other related topics. There is also a session on positive parenting - how to encourage postive behaviour in your children.
For more information look at this site (http://www.pact2006.com.au) and click on the link for the program information for the free public session.
The evening also includes a seperate session on child protection issues for child care workers, so spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested.
